After Led Zeppelin disbanded, Page worked on some critically acclaimed solo material, played in supergroups The Honeydrippers and The Firm, recorded two albums with his Led Zeppelin times buddy Robert Plant and worked as a session guitarist.
Page's past experiences both in the studio and with the Yardbirds were very influential in contributing to the success of Led Zeppelin in the 1970s. As a producer, composer, and guitarist he helped make Led Zeppelin a prototype for countless future rock bands, and was one of the major driving forces behind the rock sound of that era, influencing a host of other guitarists. Allmusic states that "just about every rock guitarist from the late '60s/early '70s to the present day has been influenced by Page's work with Led Zeppelin". For example, his sped up, downstroke guitar riff in "Communication Breakdown" is cited as being the inspiration for guitarist Johnny Ramone to develop his punk-defining, strictly downstroke guitar strumming, while Page's landmark guitar solo from the song "Heartbreaker" has been credited by Eddie Van Halen as being the inspiration for his two-hand tapping technique after he had seen Led Zeppelin perform in 1971. Page's solo in the famous epic "Stairway to Heaven" has been voted by readers of various guitar magazines, including Guitar World and Total Guitar, as the greatest guitar solo of all time, and he was named 'Guitarist of the Year' five years straight during the 1970s by Creem magazine. In 2001 he was voted London's greatest guitarist in Total Guitar magazine's poll of the greatest 12 British guitarists. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine named him number nine on their list of the "100 greatest guitarists of all time".
Little Girl
Jimmy Page Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You've been through 18 years of pain.
You're gonna be mine, little girl,
You've been through 18 years of pain.
I'm gonna give you a love, child,
You won't feel bad again.
You've been mistreated, little girl,
You've been mistreated, little girl,
But I swear, I swear it'll be outgrown.
I'm gonna give you a love, child,
Something you've never known.
You're gonna be mine, little girl,
Even if I can't have you by my side.
You're gonna be mine, little girl,
Even if I can't have you by my side.
You're gonna remember the love, child,
That made you satisfied.
The lyrics to Jimmy Page's song "Little Girl" are quite straightforward, but they carry a lot of emotion and meaning. The opening lines express a desire to take care of someone who has experienced a significant amount of pain in their life. While it's unclear exactly what this pain refers to, it seems likely that the woman in question has been mistreated or abused in some way. The singer of the song promises to give her a kind of love that will make her feel good again, almost as if he's trying to compensate for all the bad things that have happened to her in the past.
As the song continues, the singer acknowledges the harm that has been done to the woman: "You've been mistreated, little girl, but I swear it'll be outgrown." He seems to be saying that he knows how deeply she's been hurt, but he believes that their relationship can help her move beyond that pain. The repetition of the phrase "I'm gonna give you a love, child" reinforces the idea that the singer wants to provide the woman with something she's been missing.
Of course, there's a bit of ambiguity at the end of the song, when the singer says "You're gonna be mine, little girl, even if I can't have you by my side." It's not entirely clear what he means by this - is he saying that she'll always think of him fondly, or is he hinting at a more possessive type of love? In any case, the overall tone of the song is one of tenderness and a willingness to heal old wounds.

It’s hilarious to see some Zeppelin fans try to cling onto any excuse to defend Page no matter how weak. While I am a fan myself, I think this behavior is pretty damn inexcusable. Sadly, Page has found a way to dodge retribution and his delusional fans will allow it. The excuse that “it was a different time” falls apart when we see the public response to Jerry Lee Lewis

It's something that I've seen in fan bases from all types. With the videos I've done about these subjects, many people don't seem to want to know when their favorite musicians do something wrong. But it is important to know that these people who are put on a pedestal have done wrong too.

Yeah, and he won't allow interviewers to ask him about those 'younger days'.

I’m not so sure she’s telling the truth. Both her and Pamela Des Barres. Just because you get your picture taken next to your idol doesn’t necessarily mean that’s an indication of a deeper relationship.

@Mee Mee he used to tie her up and keep her in a closet, or some other space, at the former alister crowley residence he bought. I can not remember where I saw that, but it was role play stuff, not like she was kidnapped and held hostage. She lived with him, apparently, for some time in that house. Their manager, Peter Grant, kept as many people snooping into Jimmy's affairs away from that relationship as he could, and he was a nasty man. Lori herself said she was standing off to the side of the stage watching the band performing live, looking at all the people in attendance, and that she simply couldn't believe that of all the woman that he could be with he was with her. Yes, she said David Bowie and his wife had a threesome with her, and she lost her virginity that evening. She later said Jimmy took her virginity, and I believe there was a third person she also claimed was responsible for taking her virginity. The fact that she changes her story is true. The fact she was f&^$ing pedophiles is also true. When I heard about this stuff I was wiped out. I can't listen to Led Zeppelin anymore without thinking about this smut.

Always thought it was odd he could not seem to be involved with a WOMAN his own age, not some child.

@Dave Bair Because some men have an insecurity with women their own age who are usually more secure and want to be equals, not some fawning youngster.
