Stir It Up
Jimmy and the Parrots Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All the lights off, got the room lit perfect
Bass too loud, went and blew a circuit
All these girls dance, think they Jamie Lee Curtis
Whole house shakes, makes the neighbors nervous
Nervous, like that y2k thing
Feet moving on the surface, while they play "The Swing"
You know we never slow even while we waiting
Waiting for the verdict on who they name king
But it’s me, JJMV
Come and be my queen like the house is Byzantine
Grab the gasoline, only ethanol free
Light this place up like the end of Halloween, yeah
Turn it up
Turn it up
Turn the bass up
Turn it up
10 o’clock
Go and turn it up
Midnight
Go and turn it up
All day
Turn the bass up
All night
You know we turning up
Uh, just another night
Just another night in paradise
Everybody moving real slow, real nice
Got this hot flow now we melted all the ice
Everybody grab another person in the room
Move your hips to the side and your eyes to the moon
Can’t decide on a move, then just ride with the groove
Slide to the ground, rise to the roof, that’s the proof
That we all in our youth
Grinding while we rhyming like we all in the booth
And we’re moving on the floor, side to side real smooth
Yeah, analyze every move, uh
Turn it up
Turn it up
Turn the bass up
Turn it up
10 o’clock
Go and turn it up
Midnight
Go and turn it up
All day
Turn the bass up
All night
You know we turning up
Turning up, turning up, everybody knows what’s up
Everybody's acting stupid like we tipped the turnip truck
You know that my shirt is tucked, looking fly a certain must
Now they tryna hook us up, I say nah just look us up
Go and stream some fire, watch out ‘for you burn to dust
I notice you desire cuz the flow is marvelous

I will never tire so you know this here is stuck
Never been a liar so you know that you can trust

As time goes by and soulful music like this fades, only to be replaced by manufactured junk, humanity fades with it.

We need to stay focused.

Stay together.

Keep humanity alive.

Keep the message of Bob alive.

For humanity.

I am. I was a HUGE fan in my late teens in the 70's of Bob Marley, still am. I had all his albums in vinyl. Lol .Going through a tough, serious illness, and I'm here reminiscing. My soul feels better, lighter, listening to his music. He had such wisdom. It saddens me to see all the divisiveness in the world today. He was truly a force for good. ❤

@SuenosDeLaNoche

Still sounds as good as it did way back then. Irie!
