Sorry this is 2 weeks late, but I got into the fandom a few months ago (back in around June or July of last year). Here's what I know:
The whole KagePro/Kagerou Project started off with the song series. There are 3 albums with songs sang by Hatsune Miku and IA which were composed by Jin, basically the creator of KagePro. I've listened to almost all of the songs, each revolving around 1 or more characters. In this case, Outer Science is revolving around Marry and Kuroha, with some appearances of the other protagonists in the video as well.
Next, I believe, came the light novels. The series of light novels is complete, and while I haven't read them yet, I would certainly like to. The name of the light novel series is "Kagerou Daze."
After that came the manga. I have not read the manga yet either, I honestly started on the song series, but people say it's a lot better than the story's anime adaptation. I don't doubt it, the anime was very confusing..the manga, I believe, also has the same name as it's light novel counterpart, "Kagerou Daze." I think this is still an ongoing series, but once again, I could be wrong.
Then finally was the anime. The anime, titled "Mekakucity Actors," came out around April 2014, and all I can say about the anime is that it was confusing as shit. I recommend starting off with the songs, and then read either the light novels or the manga (or both), and then watch the anime. Most people who've watched Mekakucity Actors didn't get the whole point of it the first time they watched it...Shaft screwed it up big time.
I heard that the anime is going to get a reboot called "Mekakucity Reload," so I can only hope it's better than the preceding series.
So to make a long story short, the songs came first, then the manga/light novels, and finally the anime and it's reboot :)
