João Bosco Lyrics

Meu jogo é elas por elas
Não quero e nem dou partido
Numa jogada infeliz
Resvala o tempo vivido
Quem nem um taco sem giz
Existe, além da tacada
A fama do jogador
Num lance alguém se suicida
E a marca de uma ferida
Não sai com o apagador
A partida está fechada,
A aposta deu em nada
E o que fazer desse cansaço?
Carregar nossa cruz feito o menino perus,
Cair na sarjeta que nem malagueta
Ou virar bagaço igual baganaço
Carregar nossa cruz feito o menino perus,
Cair na sarjeta que nem malagueta
Ou virar bagaço igual baganaço
The lyrics of Joao Bosco's song Tabelas talk about the game of life and how it is like a game of billiards, where every move can have consequences, and every player's reputation is on the line. Bosco uses billiards as a metaphor for life, where each ball represents a choice or a decision that can have a lasting impact. In the first verse, Bosco sets the tone by saying "Batendo pelas tabelas" which translates to "hitting the rails," referring to the game of billiards, but also indicating the ups and downs of life. He goes on to say "Meu jogo é elas por elas, Não quero e nem dou partido," which means "My game is fair and square, I don't take sides." This shows Bosco's desire to play the game of life in an honest manner and not cheat or deceive others.
In the second verse, Bosco talks about how a bad move or decision can cause a person to relive their past, like a "tempo vivido" (lived time) resurfacing. He compares this to playing with a cue stick without chalk (taco sem giz), making it difficult to get a good shot. He highlights the importance of reputation and the weight of each move or decision. In one shot, a person can either be hailed as a winner or suffer the consequences of a loss.
The last section talks about the end of the game and what to do when the game is over. The metaphor is extended to a cross (carregar nossa cruz) that each player must bear. He offers three options: to fall by the wayside (cair na sarjeta), to become like waste (virar bagaço), or to keep going and move forward.
