Peace In The Valley
Jo Stafford Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
There will be peace in the valley for me, I pray
No sadness, no sorrow, no more trouble there will be
There will be peace in the valley for me
You know the bear will be gentle you know wolves gonna be so tamed
Mighty lion, if you will right now, will lie down with the lamb,
Oh yes I know the horse from the wild
Will be led by a little child and I'll be changed from this creature
No sadness, no, sorrow, no more trouble there will be
There will be peace in the valley, I pray
Jo Stafford's song "Peace in the Valley" speaks about the hope of experiencing peace and freedom from troubles one day. The singer expresses her longing for a peaceful place in her heart that is free from any form of sorrow or pain. She continues to explain that even the wildest animals like bears and wolves will be gentle, and the mighty lion will lie down with the lamb. The song refers to the Biblical passage of Isaiah 11:6-9, which prophesies that in the end, all creatures will live in harmony. The lyrics convey a message of hope and belief in a better future, where peace and love exist.

She was exceptionally good. Good choice. I have a ton of quality country on my channel, as you may know. No problems there....it goes together with classical perfectly. In fact, it's the real American music! BTW, Red Foley has a great recording of this song also.

Only the technically profiecient and imaginative muscians Paul Weston and Jo Stafford could have also produced Jonathan and Darlene Edwards. Miss Stafford was no doubt one of the great singers.

Operatutto, You are so right in saying " technically proficient and imaginative. " You are a great observer! Thank you for watching and commenting! For some reason YouTube has not been telling me when I get comments?? Anyways, all best wishes. Slokind, the waltz time remark is exactly what comes to mind, I can just see her dancing while singing this. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Jo Stafford's "Peace in the Valley": this is exactly how the traditional waltz-time songs should be sung: free of the phoney Nashvillean manner that the have the nerve to call Americanan—as if New York songs weren't just as much so.
This is as good as "Good Night Irene".
