The other person is unable to forget or move on from the traumatic event

The person argues that too much time has passed for them to address or resolve the issue

The person suggests that they should forget about the past and move on

And if it made a difference
The person acknowledges that apologizing or rectifying the situation may make a difference to the other person

The person would apologize if they genuinely felt remorseful or accountable for their actions

It really makes you wonder why
The person ponders why they should even try to make amends or apologize

There is a reflection of the past and present events in the form of a mirror

There's a crack in the mirror
The mirror is flawed and reflects a distorted version of reality

All fall down
The consequences of the actions of those involved lead to a tragic end

She was just a baby
The victim was just an innocent and vulnerable child

Seems so long ago
Despite the time that has passed, the victim still feels the impact of the traumatic experience

Left a little crazy
The traumatic event left the victim mentally and emotionally affected

No one in that big old house
The people around the victim did not witness or intervene in the traumatic event

Heard the baby cry
The victim was not heard or helped when they needed it most

Hide your guilt in ignorance
The perpetrator avoids feelings of guilt or accountability by remaining unaware of the consequences of their actions

No one has to lie
No one feels the need to deny, fabricate or cover up the traumatic event as it remains concealed and ignored

For ten long years he watched her grow
The perpetrator had the opportunity to observe and prey on their victim over an extended period

And nobody would ever know
The perpetrator's actions were concealed and unnoticed by those around them

The places that he touched her
The perpetrator sexually abused their victim in private locations that are not specified

No one in her daddy's house
The victim's family members were unaware of the abuse that their child was subjected to

Heard her make a sound
The victim was silenced and unable to speak up or call for help

Now there's blood on everybody's hands
Everyone that was aware or complicit in the abuse now carries the responsibility and guilt for their inaction

Gonna come around again
The traumatic event and its consequences will resurface and hold those involved accountable

You're sure you would remember
The person dismisses the victim's account of events and claims that they would have remembered it if it had happened

Children will exaggerate
The person attempts to undermine the victim's credibility by labeling them as unreliable or prone to exaggeration

No one will find me
The perpetrator hopes that they will not be discovered, caught or punished for their actions
