In late 1997 she created a band with the remaining members of Buckley's band called Black Beetle and finished an eponymous album which was never released. This was the first project where she was writing as well as fronting a band. Jeff buckley was her boyfriend at the time he drowned in '97.
According to Songfacts, Wasser took her curious stage name from the fact that she once attended a fancy dress party as an officer of the NYPD.
Flash
Joan as Police Woman Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
All the things that you fear
‘Cause I am a lover for the first time
I am ready to hear
I am ready to hear
Show me lover all the things you see
All the apples you find
In and out of your mind
In and out of your mind
I heard a flash
I heard a flash
I heard a flash
I heard a flash
Sing to me lover all the things you hear
All your moments in time
Let me in the rhythms of your heart
And how your eyes rhyme
And how your eyes rhyme
Part me lover like the red sea
Please don't hold back
Help me remember that I can't forget
And paint me jet black
Paint me jet black
I heard a flash
I heard a flash
I heard a flash
Don't you wonder when the earth will go
Watch the oceans wash away the snow
Oh my lover let me tell you now
All the things that I feel
I already cried a river so deep
Now I'm ready to heal
Now I'm ready to kneel
I heard a flash
I heard a flash
I heard a flash
I heard a flash
I heard a flash
I heard a flash
