Ultraviolet
Joanna Lyrics

And the world goes round and round
And life goes up and down

He is a wave and he's breakin'
He's a problem to solve
And in that circle he's makin'
I will always revolve
And on his sight
These eyes depend
Invisible and indivisible

That fire, you ignited
Good, bad and undecided
Burned when I stand beside it
Your light is ultra violet

Visions so insane
They travel unravelin' through my brain
Cold when I am denied it
Your light is ultra violet, ultra violet

Now is a phase and it's changin'
It's rotatin' us all
Thought we were safe but we're danglin'
Now it's too far to survive the fall

And this I know
It will not bend
Invisible and indivisible

That fire, you ignited
Good, bad and undecided
Burned when I stand beside it
Your light is ultra violet

Visions so insane
They travel unravelin' through my brain
Cold when I am denied it
Your light is ultra violet

That fire, you ignited
Good, bad and undecided
Burned when I stand beside it
Your light is ultra violet

Visions so insane
They travel unravelin' through my brain
Cold when I am denied it
Your light is ultra violet

That fire, you ignited
Good, bad and undecided
Burned when I stand beside it
Your light is ultra violet

Visions so insane
They travel unravelin' through my brain

I'm really froze outside it
Your light is ultra violet, ultra violet

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Joanna's song Ultraviolet describe the intense and all-consuming nature of a romantic relationship. The opening lines, "And the world goes round and round / And life goes up and down," set the stage for the dizzying, cyclical nature of the singer's emotions as she revolves around her partner. She describes him as a "wave" and a "problem to solve," suggesting that he is both unpredictable and challenging. However, she is drawn to him like a moth to a flame, and even as the world around them changes, she knows that she will always be caught in his orbit.

The chorus of the song speaks to the intensity of the passion between the two lovers. Joanna sings, "That fire, you ignited / Good, bad and undecided / Burned when I stand beside it / Your light is ultra violet." The use of the color ultra violet implies that their connection is deep and transcendent, perhaps even supernatural. The singer admits that the visions she has of her partner are "insane," but she is unable to resist his pull.

The bridge of the song brings a note of warning as the singer acknowledges that their relationship is precarious and could end at any moment. She sings, "Now it's too far to survive the fall," suggesting that they have reached a point of no return. Nevertheless, she cannot help but be drawn back to him, even as the relationship torments her. The song ends on a haunting note as she concedes, "I'm really froze outside it / Your light is ultra violet, ultra violet," suggesting that the intensity of the relationship may be too much for her to bear.

I heard this song on a Girlz Rock style CD from Limited Too (remember that place?) YEARS AGO, and used to listen to it all the time on my iPod nano, driving around Pasadena at night with my dad. Great memories... thank you for uploading!

Literally I loved that CD so much and this was hands down my favorite track. Years later I was looking for it on here and I found the version from Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging and watched the movie and now it’s still one of my favorites. I can’t find this version anywhere but YouTube though! I think she sold the rights to Nickelodeon for the movie.
