She started working as a junior doctor in the Belfast Hospital, but in 1988 she was invited to form a band with Dave Fitzgerald and Dave Bainbridge. In 1989, Joanne stopped practicing medicine and Iona was born. Since then, Joanna has sung all over Europe and America. Iona's recordings have become successful worldwide, making them Europe's best selling contemporary Christian band.
Hogg recorded her first solo album, Looking Into Light, in 1999. Her vocals were featured in the role-playing games Xenogears (for the Sony PlayStation) and Xenosaga (for the Sony PlayStation 2). She sang the English versions of Star of Tears and Small Two of Pieces from Xenogears, and Pain and Kokoro from Xenosaga. Star of Tears was featured on the 2-disc Xenogears: Original Soundtrack; however, the song is not normally accessible in the game. Hogg collaborated with several artists for the album New Irish Hymns and provided the female vocals on both solo releases from Troy Donockley.

Since you walked into my life
Monday morning when first i heard you speak to me
I was too shy to let you know
Much to scared to let my feelings show
But you shielded me and that was the beginning
And though i try 'i love you' is just so hard to say
If i only could be strong
And say the words i feel
My beating heart begins to raise
When i turn to see your face
I remember that sweet dream which you talked to me
I wanted just to be with you
So we could make the dream come true
And you smiled at me and that was the beginning
Now at last we can talk in another way
And though i try 'i love you' is just so hard to say
If i only could be strong
And say the words i feel
Tell me what you're thinking of
Tell me if you love me now
I had so much i longed to ask you
But now the chance is gone
When your picture fades each day
In my heart the memory stays
Glowing bright, you're always smiling
And i will hold you close
The lyrics of Joanne Hogg's song Kokoro tell the story of a person who has been fascinated by someone they have been watching for a while. They first heard the person speak on a Monday and were too shy to express their feelings. However, the person shielded them and that was the beginning of their relationship. They had a dream of being with this person and making it come true, but expressing their love has been difficult. The song expresses the regret of not having the courage to ask and express their feelings before it's too late. In the end, even though the chance is gone, the memory still remains and they hold onto it tightly.
The song captures the complexities of love and the fear that comes with expressing it. It is a song about missed opportunities and the regret that comes with it. The lyrics convey the longing to express oneself and the fear of losing what one has, but ultimately, it is about holding on to memories and cherishing them.

My God, the way her voice breaks at 3:06 ... so subtle and so powerful.
@drygordspellweaver8761
Technically a yodel, not a break ;) but yeah it's nice
@RpgmaniacNo1
One of the best ending themes ever made in the role-playing game history. One reason for this is, the lyrics fit perfect the relationship between KOS-MOS and Shion.
@abdulrahmanali2670
Actually it's shion and kevin
@samm.8052
@@abdulrahmanali2670 That's the neat part - it could be both.

those riffs at 0:16 are some of the most delicately sophisticated vocals I think I've ever heard
@lalleballe69
