DeRosa, Ruda, and Seefried were previously in a group known as Gods Child; and had released a handful of LPs under that moniker. In 1995, Gods Child had a national hit single, "Everybody's #1", which topped the Billboard Magazine "Modern Rock" and "Album Rock" categories simultaneously.
Seefried and Hamilton would go on to pen "Sleeping Pill" a song which was featured on a CD Sampler released by Album Network, a trade magazine. The song was credited to a band known as "The Amazing Adventures of Joe 90" — a pseudonym for the duo. The name was a send-up to the 1968 animated television series entitled Joe 90. However, their audience was not in on the joke, and repeatedly inquired about Joe 90. They eventually took on the name to avoid any further elaboration.

Tell them it's wasted on the floor
Take back the bad advice
Tell them it's all been said before
When I was wrong
and now I'm bored
and she said that
Take back last week's Recycler
Tell them to leave it at the door
Baby tees and plastic shades
I feel higher than the heels I wore before
When I was wrong
and now I'm bored
and she said that
she don't like it no more
(How do you feel?)
It feels like something
(Feeling bad or better?)
It feels like something
(How do you feel?)
She said that she don't like it no more
She said that she won't get blurred no more
In Joe 90's song Blurred, the lyrics describe a feeling of emptiness and dissatisfaction with life. The singer wants to take back the LA Weekly and the bad advice because they feel like they've already heard it all before. They also want to take back last week's Recycler and leave it at the door because they don't seem to find any meaning in those things anymore. The singer describes feeling higher than the heels they wore before, perhaps indicating that they used to find joy in material possessions but not anymore.
The repeated line "When I was wrong and now I'm bored" suggests that the singer may have made some mistakes in the past but they have now grown tired of their current situation. The line "She said that she won't get blurred no more" could be interpreted as the singer talking about a partner who they've been drifting apart from or it could be a metaphor for feeling lost in life.
Overall, the lyrics of Blurred convey a sense of disillusionment and a desire for change. The singer wants to leave behind the things that no longer hold any meaning to them and find something that feels more authentic and true to their current self.
