Joe Arroyo was born in Cartagena. At the age of ten he was already singing in one of Cartagenas' popular music halls. His father had 40 sons with different women, a story that he usually tells.
In the year 1971 Arroyo had his biggest opportunity of becoming a nationally known artist. He was discovered by Ernesto Estrada, the bass player and singer of the band "Fruko y sus Tesos" (Fruko and his buddies) and signed up with Colombian record label Discos Fuentes. With the band he performed for ten years until in 1981 when he began his solo career leading his own band, named "La Verdad" (The truth).
Joe Arroyo became very successful by mixing salsa, merengue, soca, zouk and other Afro-American music beats in a unique style that has earned him the prefix of Sonero de la Salsa by renown critics and fans.
Born in Cartagena de Indias, 1 November 1955 – Died in Barranquilla, 26 July 2011

Para que no me olviden.
Ya yo no soy un pelao
Ya yo no soy un pelao.
Recibió un beso Martica
Primera vez en su vida
Recibe un beso Martica
Primera vez en su vida
Del patio de Bertilda
Sobre la balsamina
Del patio de Bertilda.
Suave bruta
No trate al hijo ajeno así
Suave bruta
No trate al hijo ajeno así.
Suave bruta
The song "Suave Bruta" by Joe Arroyo is a powerful message about treating others with kindness and respect, especially those who are vulnerable or different from us. The song begins with a plea to remember the cumbia music of his homeland (Cumbia de mi tierra / Para que no me olviden) and declares that he is no longer a child (Ya yo no soy un pelao). The story then shifts to Martica, who is receiving her first kiss in the balsamina of Bertilda's backyard (Recibió un beso Martica / Primera vez en su vida / Sobre la balsamina / Del patio de Bertilda). The singer then admonishes those who would mistreat a child who is not their own (Suave bruta / No trate al hijo ajeno así), emphasizing the importance of treating everyone with kindness and mercy.
As the song progresses, the singer continues to challenge those who would use their power to hurt or oppress others. He criticizes those who have no empathy for the struggles of others and warns that their careless words can cause great harm (Por regla esa boquita floja de lengua largota / Y ver pa' ver cuidado / De un léxico que alborota / Al viejo más reservado). The chorus repeats the warning against mistreating others who are different (Suave bruta / No trate al hijo ajeno así), emphasizing the importance of compassion and understanding.
The song also touches on themes of loss and grief, as the singer reports the death of Sabina, who died throwing dynamite in Bocachica (Avisan de Bocachica / Que en el Cantil de Medina / Se fue a morir Sabina / Tirando dinamita). The singer's voice is bold and urgent throughout the song, challenging us to be mindful of our actions and to treat others with dignity and respect.

Esto no es salsa. Esto es "Joeson"
@jhancarlos9112
Es una cumbia 🥰
@cesarpardo591
@jhancarlos9112
