One of these Days
Joe Bonamassa Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

One of these days boy , I'm gonna see my woman
I'm gonna see my children , children on their knee
Gonna run up to my woman , and hold her in my arms
With tears in her eyes , she said I'm glad you're free

She's coming down the road boy , I said she's coming down the road
She's got her Red dress on , yeah she's got her Red dress on
She's coming down the road boy , with her bags down low
Said she's coming down the road boy , she's got her bags down low , hey yeah

Oh One of these days , I'll be coming home soon girl , I'll be coming on home
One of these days boy , I'll be coming on home

One of these days boy , I'm gonna see my baby
Gonna see my baby , coming down the road
Gonna have my Pardon , Pardon in her Apron oh Lord
Wanna see The governor , she said Release my Man

Hey One of these days , I'll be coming home soon girl , I'll be coming on home

I'll be coming down the road boy , with my bags down low
One of these days boy , I'll be coming on home

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of One of these Days by Joe Bonamassa tell the story of a man who is looking forward to reuniting with his family, specifically his woman and children. He is eager to hold his woman in his arms and be reunited with his family. The song describes the woman walking down the road wearing her red dress and carrying her bags, which signals her departure from wherever she was before. The man also talks about his baby, who he hopes to see soon, as well as the Pardon in her Apron, which may refer to a pardon document or a symbolic representation of the woman's forgiveness for the man's faults.

The song's themes revolve around hope and redemption, as the man seems to have gone through a tough time and has been away from his family for a while. One of the best slide solos I've ever heard. So good. So so good

@andreasaulbach8807

I agree, I am currently trying to cover it (guitar tuned to open E). It s a bit demanding to identify his moves on the lower strings, as they are not so clearly audible, but after a while you begin to understand & read the concept of his soloing. His live solo is quite different, though but also first class. Speaking of best slide solo ever, I automatically think of Rick Vito's work on the Bob Seger's LIKE A ROCK. Anyone, who has a faible for slide must hear this. I think it already 40 years old or so...

@Andreas Aulbach awesome dude. I need to learn it and man like a rocks slide solos are out of this world. It's one of the greatest slide sounds for sure. My favorite is probably Statesboro blues though. Duane Allman was the man
