His first album featured a recording of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends", which brought him to near-instant stardom. The song reached number one in the UK in 1968, became a staple of his many live shows (Woodstock and the Isle of Wight in 1969, the Party at the Palace in 2002) and was also known as the theme song for the late 1980s American TV series The Wonder Years. He continued his success with his second album, which included a second Beatles song: "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window". A hastily thrown together 1970 US tour led to the live double-album Mad Dogs & Englishmen, which featured an all-star band organized by Leon Russell. His 1974 recording of "You Are So Beautiful" reached number five in the US, and became his signature song. Cocker's best selling song was the US number one "Up Where We Belong", a duet with Jennifer Warnes that earned a 1983 Grammy Award. He released a total of 22 studio albums over a 43-year recording career.
In 1993, Cocker was nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Male. He was awarded a bronze Sheffield Legends plaque in his hometown in 2007, and received an OBE the following year for services to music. Cocker was ranked number 97 on Rolling Stone's 100 greatest singers list.

Jealous Kind
Joe Cocker Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Each time we meet
A boy that you once knew
[??] just to be so close to you
It's just that I'm so afraid
Someone might steal you away, I'd lose my mind
So please forgive me for the way I act sometimes
I'm the jealous kind
And didn't mind
[?] can't you see [??]
That I'm losing my mind
I want you all to myself
I don't want you shackin' with nobody else
I can't help it if it's the way I act sometimes
Because I'm the jealous kind
You know I love you girl
Just one more thing now,If you only knew
How much it hurts me just to hear you say
How, when we first met
I can't think that those were the good old days
Why must you hurt me so
I can't stand it no more, I'm tryin'
So please, I can't control these tears in my eyes
Lord I'm the jealous kind
I love you baby
You know you've got me baby
You know I'm the jealous kind
"The Jealous Kind" by Joe Cocker is a song about an insecure lover who struggles with jealousy. The song describes the singer's feelings of fear and paranoia that someone might take his lover away, and asks for forgiveness for his actions. He wants his lover all to himself and cannot stand the thought of her being with anyone else. Ultimately, he professes his love and asks for understanding, even though he knows that his jealousy can be overwhelming.
The lyrics of the song represent the common theme of jealousy and insecurity which can undermine any romantic relationship. The singer’s jealousy is not rational, but it is rather driven by his intense love for his partner. His fear of losing her makes him behave in ways that are often irrational and possessive, but he admits to being aware of his behavior and hopes for understanding from his partner.
This song is a reminder that jealousy can often be a symptom of deeper issues within oneself, such as low self-esteem, fear of abandonment or past traumas. It is important to address these issues in order to create healthy relationships built on trust and communication.

Joe was one of a kind that we are privileged to have experienced with his incredible performances. The music entertainment world is suddenly without that ultimate performer. I loved EVERYTHING that Joe sang especially Please No More. I am saddened by his passing. Heaven has acquired one our finest artists.
