His first album featured a recording of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends", which brought him to near-instant stardom. The song reached number one in the UK in 1968, became a staple of his many live shows (Woodstock and the Isle of Wight in 1969, the Party at the Palace in 2002) and was also known as the theme song for the late 1980s American TV series The Wonder Years. He continued his success with his second album, which included a second Beatles song: "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window". A hastily thrown together 1970 US tour led to the live double-album Mad Dogs & Englishmen, which featured an all-star band organized by Leon Russell. His 1974 recording of "You Are So Beautiful" reached number five in the US, and became his signature song. Cocker's best selling song was the US number one "Up Where We Belong", a duet with Jennifer Warnes that earned a 1983 Grammy Award. He released a total of 22 studio albums over a 43-year recording career.
In 1993, Cocker was nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Male. He was awarded a bronze Sheffield Legends plaque in his hometown in 2007, and received an OBE the following year for services to music. Cocker was ranked number 97 on Rolling Stone's 100 greatest singers list.

Love Don't Live Here Anymore
Joe Cocker Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Love don't live here any more
Just look back and see
Love don't live here any more
When you lived inside of me
There was nothing in the world you wouldn't do for me
Trouble seemed so far away
Then you changed and went away
Love don't live here any more
Just look back and see that
Love don't live here any more
Any more
Love don't live here any more
Just emptiness and memories over what we had before
Why did you have to go away
Find another place to stay
You abandoned me
Love don't live here any more
Just look back and see
Love don't live here any more
Yeah
Through the windows in my eyes
Everyone can see the loneliness inside of me
Don't you know I need you so
Why did you have to go
And abandon me
Love don't live here any more
Just look back and see that
Love don't live here any more
Yeah, don't live here any more
Love don't live here, don't live here any more
Any more
You went away and left me
Now love don't live here any more
Any more
Love don't live here any more
The lyrics to Joe Cocker's song "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" depicts the pain and loss of love that the singer is experiencing after being abandoned by their partner. The line "Love don't live here any more" is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the fact that the singer's love has left and they are left with just emptiness and memories.
The first verse talks about how the partner used to be devoted and willing to do anything for the singer, but then something changed and they left. The singer is trying to understand why their partner had to go and find another place to stay. The chorus repeats the title line "Love don't live here any more," which shows how the singer is coming to terms with the fact that the love they had is gone.
The second verse uses the metaphor of "windows in my eyes" to show how the singer's loneliness is visible to others. They plead with their partner, asking if they know how much they need them and questioning why they had to go and abandon them. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, emphasizing the finality of the loss of love.
