That groove jam at 3:15 is so damn good. The large chorus chanting over and over. The dual drummers rocking it. And Joe riffing all over it. Whenever I hear this song, everything stops!

Saw Joe in concert when I was eleven. Stevie Ray Vaughan opened for him. Stevie died two months later. Great show. I'll never forget it.

Figure this, Whitney Houston in The Rock n Roll HoF and Joe Cocker wasn't even considered. Joe's performance at Woodstock is the best rock performance I've ever seen. He's the definition of Rock.

When this was released it was , by the critics, almost universally panned..sounding like a hastily thrown together band..good God, Leon Russell on Keys, Rita Coolige on background vocals, etc.

Hve to first say, love your thumbnail. My first GRATEFUL DEAD album I bought when in grammar school. It was before OAXA MOXA and WORKINGMANS DEAD. If not mistaken, it was before DUANE ALLMAN ANTHOLOGY I.
Then - thaz all? I'm thinking you weren't born in the 1960s or anytime before, 'cause - damn - I just did a 3 day marathon on ROY ORBISON, CRYIN' and the two 1968 specials of ELVIS PRESLEY (the 2 shows ELVIS PRESLEY is dressed in leather). You gotta hear ELVIS PRESLEY sing TROUBLE. ELVIS PRESLEY said that is his favorite style of singing.
This is all a part of that marathon - think I put it down to run in the loo....

Oh shit, I was 8 when I heard this on KYA San Francisco, blew my little mind, but then always heard ever kind of music in my home growing up, and even now the best music will always stand the test of time. RIP top 40 radio. Sad thing now is music is so compartmentalized, lacks in complexity and even quirkiness, some good stuff, but few and far in between . Sorry for sounding like an old fogey. Great music has no race, just great experiences in sharing. 😁😁😉😉🤣.
