His first album featured a recording of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends", which brought him to near-instant stardom. The song reached number one in the UK in 1968, became a staple of his many live shows (Woodstock and the Isle of Wight in 1969, the Party at the Palace in 2002) and was also known as the theme song for the late 1980s American TV series The Wonder Years. He continued his success with his second album, which included a second Beatles song: "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window". A hastily thrown together 1970 US tour led to the live double-album Mad Dogs & Englishmen, which featured an all-star band organized by Leon Russell. His 1974 recording of "You Are So Beautiful" reached number five in the US, and became his signature song. Cocker's best selling song was the US number one "Up Where We Belong", a duet with Jennifer Warnes that earned a 1983 Grammy Award. He released a total of 22 studio albums over a 43-year recording career.
In 1993, Cocker was nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Male. He was awarded a bronze Sheffield Legends plaque in his hometown in 2007, and received an OBE the following year for services to music. Cocker was ranked number 97 on Rolling Stone's 100 greatest singers list.

Weight of the World
Joe Cocker Lyrics

Every day you roll that stone
I see you cry your silent way
Dry your eyes, don't you be afraid
Let me take the weight of the world off your shoulders
Come on, girl
Let me make you believe you're not alone
But I will carry it if you let me,
I will carry the weight of the world for you, baby, yes I will
I will carry the weight of the world
You think you seen your better day
But I believe it's not too late
Let me take the weight of the world off your shoulders
Come on, girl
Let me make you believe you're not alone
Oh, I know your heart is heavy,
But I will carry it if you let me,
I will carry the weight of the world for you, baby, yes I will
We all need somebody, girl
Someone to lean on,
Someone to carry the weight of the world
Let me take the weight of the world off your shoulders
Come on, girl
Let me make you believe you're not alone
Oh, I know your heart is heavy,
But I will carry it if you let me,
I will carry the weight of the world for you, baby, yes, I will
I will carry the weight of the world.
The song "Weight of the World" by Joe Cocker is a touching ballad that talks about supporting someone who is going through a tough time. The lyrics open with an image of someone carrying the heavy burden of life all alone without any support. The singer then offers to share the weight of the world with the person, telling them that they are not alone and can trust them to carry some of their troubles. The phrase "Let me make you believe you're not alone" is particularly powerful and illustrates the idea that sometimes all that someone needs is to know that they have someone who is there to support them.
Throughout the song, the lyrics continue to express the idea that everyone needs someone to lean on and that no one should have to carry the weight of the world on their own. The chorus repeats the idea of sharing the burden and offering a helping hand to those in need. The lyrics are simple yet profound, and the melody is smooth and comforting, making the listener feel as though they too are being offered a helping hand.
In conclusion, the song "Weight of the World" is a beautiful piece of music that talks about the power of support, empathy, and kindness. It reminds us that no one is alone and that we all need someone to lean on at some point in our lives.
