The Man I Love

The man I love
And he'll be big and strong
The man I love
And when he comes my way
I'll do my best to make him stay
He'll look at me and smile
Then in a little while
He'll take my hand
And though it seems absurd
I know we both won't say a word
Maybe I shall meet him Sunday
Maybe Monday, maybe not
Still I'm sure to meet him one day
Maybe Tuesday will be my good news day
He'll build a little home
That's meant for two
From which I'll never roam
Who would, would you
And so all else above
I'm dreaming of the man I love
"The Man I Love" by Joe Harris is a classic love song that expresses a woman's longing for her ideal man. The lyrics of the song convey a sense of hope and optimism in the singer's search for true love. The song opens with a dream-like sequence where the singer talks about her ideal man who would be big and strong. She hopes that when he comes her way, she would do everything in her power to make him stay. There is an underlying theme of female desire and agency, where the central character is depicted as the pursuer and not the object of desire.
The second stanza of the song speaks of the emotional connection between the singer and her ideal man. She believes that when he looks at her, she will understand him, and then he will take her hand. There is an unspoken agreement between them, and they don't need words to communicate their feelings as they can understand each other's thoughts. The last verse speaks of a hope and longing for a future, where they both will build a happy home and will never part, their love for one another to be the anchor that keeps them together.
Overall, the lyrics of "The Man I Love" by Joe Harris poignantly capture the dream of true love and the emotional connection between two people that transcends words.
