Joe Haywood Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Let me wrap you in my warm and tender love now
Let me wrap you in my warm and tender love

Woah I′ve loved you for a long, long time
Darling, please say you'll be mine
And let me wrap you in my warm and tender love

Let me wrap you in my warm and tender love oh baby
Let me wrap you in my warm and tender love

Yes I′ve loved you, oh so much
Come on and heal me with your touch
And let me wrap you in my warm and tender love

Oh I loved you for a long, long time
Darling please say you'll be mine
And let me wrap you in my warm (oh baby)
And tender love (come on)

I said it'll be alright if you just let me now
Wrap you in my warm and tender love
I just want you to let me

Wrap you in my warm and tender love
Oh baby

Joe Haywood owned (he made it his by this sublime recording although others wrote it) this song, he or his family have never enjoyed some royaltie 's for it (happened often in those days) . Well sung and grounded haertfelt soul.

Joseph Wiggins

Mil Van the song was written by Bobby Robinson and Clara Thompson. Haywood didn’t record it before Percy but released it a year before Percy Did. There was a conflict with Percy and his label over the Royalty split with Bobby Robinson. Why Joe Haywood released it on a local label in the Carolinas

Joseph Wiggins , In those days, musicians didn’t seek legal council before releasing anything.

No My grandfather wrote and sung this song 1st nobody else did

@Joseph Wiggins no my Grandfather wrote this song years before he, Percy or anyone ever produced it.. not being mean but you facts are wrong and I am Bobby Brown he wrote this back at Carver High School

Paul Murray

This is a really interesting recording.  It lacks the good intro necessary to engage the listener, but this guy can communicate the feeling necessary for a good "soul" song.  He sounds like a cross between Little Willie John and Joe Tex. Not as outright country as Percy, but still good.  Thanks for posting this contribution to southern country soul.

Paul Murray , Yes. Btw, Talent introduces itself. His Voice alone possessed the engaging factor, as was afforded by the times.

Joe Dean sang from his Soul, when public engagement didn’t require any intro or gimmicks, like much of today’s “acts”. Truly a gem we had from Spartanburg. 😊
