Tú no me haces caso mi corazón llora
Tú no me haces caso mi corazón llora
Si me va a querer, quiéreme ahora
Si tú me va a besar mujer, bésame ahora
Ay mujer no seas tan ingrata
Ay mujer no seas tan ingrata
No me traigas flores no me prenda vela
No me traigas flores no me prenda vela
Me va a dejar morir, quiéreme ahora
Y si me va a besar, bésame ahora
Quiero comerte ahora
In Joe Veras's song "Ahora," the singer expresses his desperation for the love of a woman. The first two lines, "Ay mujer qué hago yo en la tierra, si tú no me quieres mejor que me muera," translate to "Oh woman, what am I doing on this earth if you don't love me? It's better for me to die." The singer feels that without the love of this woman, he is worthless and that death would be a better option. He repeats this sentiment in the second verse, but also adds, "Por ti mi amor no me haces caso," meaning "For you, my love, I'm ignored." The woman is not reciprocating his feelings, and the pain is becoming too much for him to bear.
The chorus provides a glimmer of hope as the singer pleads for the woman to love him "ahora," or now. He wants her to show her love by giving him all that she has to offer, be it material things or her affections. He begs her to "dámelo ahora" or give it to me now. He even says that he doesn't need flowers or candles when he dies, just her love while he is still alive.
Overall, "Ahora" is a powerful song that illustrates the desperation and pain of unrequited love. The singer feels as though his existence is pointless without the love of this woman and is willing to die if she can't give him what he needs. The chorus provides a glimmer of hope that perhaps she will love him now and make all the suffering worth it.
