Quiero hablarte, quiero escucharte
Quiero hablarte, quiero escucharte
Por favor
Dime teléfono, dímelo ahora
Que hacemos tú y yo
Quisiera volar (Quisiera volar)
Donde ella esta (Donde ella esta)
Para convencerme
Que no me ama (no ay amor)
No quiere oírme, no quiere verme
Quiero escucharte, quiero hablarte…
Por favor
Dime teléfono, dímelo ahora
Que hacemos tú y yo
Tú y yo
In "El Telefono y Yo," Joe Veras sings about the frustration of waiting by the phone for a loved one to call, only to be repeatedly disappointed. The song begins with the singer addressing the phone directly, urging it to ring and bring news of his lover. When it finally does, his excitement is palpable - until he realizes that it is not her on the other line. He becomes increasingly despondent as the song progresses, lamenting his inability to reach her and expressing confusion about their future. He yearns to hear her voice, but feels trapped by the lack of communication, unable to move forward until he knows what she wants.
One of the most notable elements of "El Telefono y Yo" is its use of bachata, a style of music that originated in the Dominican Republic in the early 20th century. Bachata typically features a combination of guitar, bongos, and bass, and is known for its romantic lyrics and slow, sensual rhythms. The genre has evolved significantly over the years, incorporating influences from other genres such as hip-hop and electronic music, but its roots remain firmly tied to the Dominican Republic.
