Comin' Down
Joe Walsh Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Comin' down, comin' round, to see you
To see if maybe you know who I am
Comin' down, comin' round, to see you
Me again

I'm comin' down, comin' round, to see you
To see if maybe you know who I am
Comin' down, comin' round, to see you
Me again

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Joe Walsh's song "Comin' Down" tell the story of a person who is making their way back to someone they care about. The repetition of the phrase "comin' down, comin' round, to see you" emphasizes the importance of this journey and highlights the singer's need to see this person again. The phrase "to see if maybe you know who I am" indicates that the relationship between these two people may have changed, and the singer is seeking clarity and confirmation of their identity to this person.

The repetition of "me again" in the last line further emphasizes the desire to reconnect with this person and possibly make amends. The song suggests that the singer has been away for some time, or there has been some sort of distance between them, and they are now making an effort to reach out and connect.

Overall, "Comin' Down" is a simple but powerful song about the desire to reconnect with someone important. It highlights the importance of communication and connection in relationships and underscores the importance of making an effort to reach out to those we care about when we feel lost or distant.

Is this one of the more poignant pieces of harmonica playing you've ever heard or what? And that's what made this album a standout, each track just had some great riffs whether it was lead guitar or piano etc. He never quite reached these heights again in his following albums. But at least he raised the Eagles up out of their comfort zone and put a bit of edge to their sound which was turning into elevator music until Joe beefed it up a bit.

Yes, definitely agree. It is great stuff.

@shldnbschmn

favorite Walsh album... ...criminally underrated

@discomadame

Television's Adventure and this are the 2 most underrated records of the 70's. Not a single "not brilliant" track. It's a mystery that it has "disappeared" like that.

@OpaqueVisions47

This song was originally written by The Magicians in 1966. "A.Gordan & A.Jacobs were members". Walsh's version is so much better though-a great improvement!!
