At the age of eighteen, he marked his film debut in the sound department with the picture "The Treasure of the Jamaica Reef" (1975). It would be his pairing with Richard Band which led to steadier work on such films as "Auditions" (1978) and "Laserblast" (1978). After several years of lesser features, Goldsmith collaborated with his father on the first instalment of the "Star Trek" film series "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" (1979) and was rewarded with the Steve Martin comedy "The Man with Two Brains" (1983). In addition to rejoining forces with his father on "Star Trek: First Contact" (1996), he saw his greatest accomplishments on television as he complied credits with "The Untouchables" (1993 to 1994), "Hawkeye" (1994 to 1995) and "Diagnosis Murder" (1998 to 1999). He garnered three Emmy Award nominations with the "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate: Atlantis" TV series. He died following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Goldsmith came from a musical family. He is the son of renowned composer Jerry Goldsmith, and his uncle (mother's brother) was composer and professor Michael Hennagin.

Brilliant!! I loved Stargate and I love this song. I didn't want much of Atlantis past the first season. But I recognize most of this.
