Lawrence can currently be seen in the ABC Family original comedy series Melissa & Joey, whose 2010 premiere holds the honor of being the network’s most-watched comedy series debut ever, co-starring with Melissa Joan Hart.
Joey Lawrence has long had a knack for capturing the musical zeitgeist. At age 16, he began a recording career and in 1993 he released a self-titled debut album. The album was produced by Terry Lupton, Ian Prince and Teddy Riley. Lawrence also co-wrote songs on the album, including the international hit single Nothin’ My Love Can’t Fix (Billboard Hot 100 Airplay #6, Billboard Top 40 Mainstream #10, Billboard Hot 100 #19).
Lawrence has always said music was his real passion. “It's been way too long since I've brought some new music out to my fans. I'm really excited about my brand new record. I had the privilege to write this entire record with super-producer Matthew Gerrard. We first started collaborating about a year ago and instantly connected on many levels with our music. We just kept going and going–and 9 months later had a complete record.”
Producer and co-writer Gerrard, whose chart-topping artists include Delta Goodrem, Kelly Clarkson, and Hannah Montana, says “Joey’s new album is awesome. Radio ready hits that will make you wanna dance. Bumpin’ tracks and killer vocals!” Lawrence explains: “My music is all about feeling good. It's time to get back to having fun. That's what I want my music and tour to be all about. I truly can't wait to release the record and get out there and perform the crap out of my new songs!!” (His dancing prowess is an audience favorite, too, with appearances on “Dancing with the Stars,” the TLC series “Masters of Dance,” and in the Broadway hit Chicago as Billy Flynn.)
In These Times

People, listen up loud and clear
We gotta get our act together
In this planet here
Peace, love and happiness is so hard to find
But we gotta do it
If we wanna survive in these times...
So give it up for the children
Give it up for the world
We have to live our lives together as one
Give it up to each other
Give it one to another
We have to live on Earth together
If we wanna survive in these times
Oh yeah... in these times...
The problem that we have here
Ain't gonna be solved with money, running (?) and fear
Boy, what we have to do
Is work in sync to revive our desperate souls
This is what we got to do
If we wanna survive in these times
So give it up for the children
Give it up for the world
We have to live our lives together as one
Give it up to each other
Give it one to another
We have to live on Earth together
If you wanna survive in these times
We gotta get the picture clear now
There's got to be a way out somehow
It's gotta be our destiny
Let's go people, the wheels are turning
We gotta get the picture clear now
There's got to be a way out somehow
It's gotta be our destiny
Don't you know the wheels are turning?
Work it, oh yeah...
Here we go...
C'mon people, put your hands together
If you wanna survive in these times
So give it up for the children
Give it up for the world
We have to live our lives together as one
Give it up to each other
Give it one to another
We have to live on Earth together
If you wanna survive
Give it up to the children
Give it up to the world
We have to live on Earth together as one
Give it up to each other
Give it one to another
We have to live on Earth together
If you wanna survive
Give it up for the children
Give it up for the world
We have to live our lives together as one
Give it up to each other
Give it one to another
We have to live on Earth together
If you wanna survive
Give it up for the children
Give it up for the world
We have to live our lives together as one
Give it up to each other
Give it one to another
We have to live on Earth together
If you wanna survive in these times...
In Joey Lawrence's song "In These Times," the lyrics encourage people to come together and work towards peace, love, and happiness. The song highlights the difficulties of finding these things in a world that is filled with problems that cannot be solved by simply throwing money at them or running away in fear. Instead, the song emphasizes the importance of working together to revive our "desperate souls" and create a better world for all.
The chorus repeats the phrase "give it up" several times, emphasizing the need for people to come together and support each other if they want to survive in these difficult times. The song suggests that our destiny is in our own hands and that we all have a role to play in creating a better world.
Overall, "In These Times" is a powerful and inspiring call to action. It reminds us that we are all connected and that our actions have the power to shape the world around us. By coming together and working towards a common goal, we can make a real difference and create a more peaceful, just, and sustainable world for future generations.
