Bach has definitely changed my life. Of course I listened to Bach from a very young age, but it was never something voluntary, something I sought out, I never paid much attention to it as a kid. I was writing metal, I had a band and everything, but I wasn't happy, I was looking for a sound, more gothic, deeper and richer. It wasn't until I was about 16 that I started playing Bach records at will, trying to find that sound that I was missing, and to my surprise, after listening to some organ works by the aforementioned character, he far exceeded all my expectations. My God, that afternoon I was absolutely stunned, I asked myself what the hell I was doing with my life, such profound and excellent compositions totally changed my way of seeing things, that same afternoon I was never the same person again, I decided to study music and composition and dedicate my life to this beautiful art. It is incredible how you can change overnight, not even that, it was from the afternoon to the evening. He was the lever to rediscover Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and later the madmen like Wagner, R. Strauss and later.

1:20 Omg, I wasn't expecting that augmentation of the subject in the bass while playing the subject in other voices.

@Luboman411

Wow--now this is counterpoint. It's 5 melodies playing off each other almost without interruption, with an underlying tempo. Also a great homage to gregorian chant, which I've never heard from Bach. Extremely impressive! This man once again wows me with a new piece of music (new for me)...

7 melodies, don't forget the violins!

@xmvziron

@@starless5668 shouldn't the walking bass be counted? So then 8 distinct lines.

@starless5668

@@xmvziron You're right! But it's not part of the fugue.

@marklomnas6531

@@starless5668 Of course its part of the fuge. Its the essential part of the harmonic structure. Analys the harmony and you will see.

@starless5668

@@marklomnas6531 Well, every basso continuo contains the essence of the harmonic structure, that's its job. What I meant was that it does not take part in the fugal work of the other voices (it never displays the subject etc.) so it serves as an accompaniment to the fugue rather than being a full-blown fugue voice.
