Swingin'
John Anderson & Colt Ford Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's a little girl, in our neighborhood
Her name is Charlotte Johnson and she's really lookin' good
I had to go and see her, so I called her on the phone
I walked over to her house, and this was goin' on

Her brother was on the sofa, eatin' chocolate pie
Her moma was in the kitchen cuttin' chicken up to fry
Her daddy was in the back yard rollin' up a garden hose
I was on the porch with Charlotte feelin' love down to my toes

And we were swingin' (swinging)
Yes we were swingin' (swinging)
Little Charlotte she's as pretty as the angels when they sing
I can't believe I'm out here on the front porch swing
Just a swingin' (swingin')
Just a swingin' (swingin')

Now Charlotte she's a darlin she's the apple of my eye
When I'm on the swing with her it makes me almost high
Now Charlotte is my lover and she has been since the spring
I can't believe it started on her front porch in the swing

And we were swingin' (swinging)
Yes we were swingin' (swinging)
Little Charlotte she's as pretty as the angels when they sing
I can't believe I'm out here on the front porch swing

Just a swingin' (swingin')
Just a swingin' (swingin')

The original songs lyrics are amazing, John Anderson is a lyrical genius all the songs he's written.

Paul Hooson

As much as I love the original, this bro-country hip hop influenced remix is a great tribute to one of the greatest country anthem songs of all time. Nothing can top the sheer magic chemistry of the John Anderson original with the perfect song, lyrics and backwoods voice vocals of the great John Anderson, yet this unique remix is sure a lot of fun.

One of my favorite songs back when it came out. Not much into new country, but John Anderson did it. I don't know who this guy is singing with John but he is a lucky man for it

I first heard Colt Ford on a very long flight from somewhere to somewhere. I am not into rap or hip hop... but I liked what I heard. I always think of Toby Keith's "I Wanna Talk about Me." Colt Ford never "made it," but he did get played where I've been dancing for years.

No one cares

I'm not into new pop country, but some new styles aren't so bad... I mean old school is good (pocket full of gold and all...) but some of the newer (not poppy) paying tribute to the old... I like! This is one song I got from my earliest memories of music! Love Colt adding to it. He brings a new dynamic to it!

Colt Ford wrote Jason Aldean’s song
Backroad Anthem

He has some fun songs.
