He recorded and performed primarily with an acoustic guitar and sang about his joy in nature, his disdain for city life, his enthusiasm for music, and his relationship trials. Denver's music appeared on a variety of charts, including country music, the Billboard Hot 100, and adult contemporary, in all earning him twelve gold and four platinum albums with his signature songs "Take Me Home, Country Roads", "Annie's Song", "Rocky Mountain High", "Thank God I'm a Country Boy", and "Sunshine on My Shoulders".
Denver starred in films and several notable television specials in the 1970s and 1980s. He continued to record in the 1990s, also focusing on environmental issues by lending vocal support to space exploration and testifying in front of Congress in protest against censorship in music. He lived in Aspen, Colorado for much of his life and was known for his love of Colorado which he sang about numerous times. In 1974 Denver was named poet laureate of the state. The Colorado state legislature also adopted "Rocky Mountain High" as one of its two state songs in 2007. Denver was an avid pilot and died at the age of 53 in a single-fatality crash of his personal experimental aircraft.
Blue Christmas
John Denver Lyrics

I'll be so blue thinking about you.
Decorations of red
On a green Christmas tree
Just won't mean a thing if
You're not here with me
And when those blue heartaches start hurting,
You'll be doing all right
With your Christmas of white,
But I'll have a blue, blue Christmas.
Decorations of red
On a green Christmas tree
Just won't mean a thing if
You're not here with me
And when those blue heartaches start hurting,
I'll have some blue blue memories for certain,
You'll be doing all right
With your Christmas of white,
But I'll have a blue, blue Christmas.
Yes I'll have a blue, blue Christmas.
The lyrics to John Denver's song Blue Christmas tell the story of a person who will be spending Christmas alone and feeling blue because their loved one is not with them. The singer speaks of the traditional decorations of red on a green Christmas tree, which just won't mean anything without the presence of their beloved. The loneliness and sadness are emphasized in the repetition of "blue" throughout the song, which is both the color of the singer's emotions as well as a play on words with "blues" being a common term for sadness in music.
The lyrics suggest that even though the singer's partner may be enjoying a Christmas of white, they will be struggling with their blue Christmas. The second verse repeats the sentiments of the first verse, confirming that the singer is thinking of their partner and will be left with memories of them that will only increase their sadness.
The melancholic tone of the song, combined with Denver's soothing voice, has made it a perennial favorite for many people during the holiday season.

SonicHits just gets worse and worse. Albums that don't play, songs that don't play, tracks that are NOT the named song or even the right artist, adverts that cover content and cause the site to interrupt and buffer inthe middle of songs. I've got to find a better music site!
