RAINBOW
John Lodge Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Paint it every day
Break my heart or even sin
Do it, right away
Make my life the morning
A promise for today
Break my heart or let me in
If I have to lose you for a while
If I have to lose your loving smile
If I have to lose your loving ways
If I have
Make my life worthwhile
Make my life a Rainbow
Paint it every day
Make my heart forever sing
Do it, right away
Make my life a lifetime
Never walk away
Like the wind upon the sand
Can't blow it all away
If I have to lose you for a while
If I have to lose your loving smile
If I have to lose your loving ways
If I have
Make my life worthwhile
Make my life a Rainbow
Turn your face away
Look upon the setting sun and
Rainbow fade away
The lyrics of John Lodge's song Rainbow paint a picture of someone who is willing to risk everything to feel alive. They are asking their lover to involve themselves completely in their life, even if it means breaking their heart or losing them for a while. The metaphor of a rainbow is used to represent the beauty and promise of life, and the longing for it to remain present always. The line "Make my life a lifetime, never walk away," shows the depth of the singer's desire to stay connected to the person they love.
The lyrics also express a sense of urgency, the desire to seize the moment and make the most of every day. They seem to be saying that life is fleeting, and that it's important to live it fully while there's still time. The line "Like the wind upon the sand, can't blow it all away," implies that the singer is aware of the fragility of life and the need to hold on to joy and beauty wherever it can be found.
The repeated refrain of "Make my life a Rainbow" takes on different meanings throughout the song, reflecting the singer's changing emotions and desires. At times, it seems to be an appeal to their lover to brighten their life with happiness and color. At other times, it seems more like a command, a declaration of the singer's power and determination to create their own happiness. Overall, the lyrics of Rainbow are an expression of longing, hope, and the willingness to take risks to achieve joy and fulfillment.
