Domino
John Lurie Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's a cat in town that you might know
He goes by the name of Domino
A long tweed jacket and a diamond ring
A blue sport car, he's a crazy king
They love him so that cat called Domino, Domino, Domino

Well the girls all think that he's a real gone guy
They all flip when he walks by
Shanty clothes and cool white shoes
He's rearm' to go and never sings the blues
They love him so that cat called Domino, Domino, Domino

He's got cool black hair and a solid style
Long side-bums and a crazy smile
A thousand girls, they'll tell you so
They dig that cat called Domino
They love him so that cat called Domino, Domino, Domino

Well Domino, cool man go, Domino, they love him so
Get out of the way, here comes Domino, Domino, Domino

@@KM-zw9qb it is a persona but he doesn't step outside himself critically to get there. If you're healthy enough and developed enough you don't need to. If not the temptation is stronger by degrees. Some people have little option minute minute to minute, and they are constantly in a crisis situation. Many don't know it normalize it among similar people etc. But the way back is hard, long, and frequently humiliating when possible if a good true answer is what you're looking for.

Murderers are just being themselves too, you know?

You have to look at what you got to work with vs need to do day to day and plan your (re) integration very carefully.

You only have one self.

It's thankless until it proceeds far enough, and temptation to act how you want to be instead of 'being ' is strong until being contains 'enough' to carry sufficient weight.

It won't ever become 'being' unless you always hold both at the same time.

Until then the rewards are very slim. Afterward, still slim until it takes a pleasing form. After that though, the world is yours.

Lucky are those able to know early and not have it taken from them.

Maybe next luckiest are those never to really to know but who move easily among a large demographic of similar people, and in a required functional way never need to.

Anyway, Tom is both fortunate and also has earned it by ongoingly making the very best of it.

His physical age has caught up to his voice.

@dennisstaughton7474

tn18977 amazing, really, considering how long ago his voice was sounding old. I still don't think the rest of him has caught up.

@PrincessNinja007

Now we just hope his mind never catches up ;)

@toddhurry7674
