John Mayall is often referred to as the "Father of the British blues." His well-known band is still called John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers. They started out in the late 1950s in England, using Chicago style blues as a starting basis for their sound, which has evolved from album to album. And while at one point John Mayall was playing a fairly jazzy sound, he has always come back to the blues.
One of the interesting features of the Bluesbreakers is that members have changed on a very regular basis, and many have gone on to well deserved fame and fortune with other bands and as solo acts. Past members include: Eric Clapton, and Jack Bruce, (also of Cream), Peter Green, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, and Mick Taylor, (who went on to a five -year stint with the Stones.) The studio album recorded with Clapton, entitled John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, was recorded in 1966, and is widely considered to be one of the great classic blues albums on either side of the stormy Atlantic. Cream came round right after.
John Mayall stands out for several reasons - his standing up for the blues, while experimenting with different approaches, his ability to attract the best of musicians; and perhaps most notably his willingness to work with musicians who far outshine him in sheer ability. And he himself sounds very good!

Another Kind of Love
John Mayall Lyrics

You've got your lover, she's a girl
Poor little baby
You've got caught up in the world
I've got to say you lost your way
You're a woman, another kind of woman
Another kind of love
You just pile on your misery
Now you have failed
But deep down inside yourself
See if you can tell
Poor little baby
You've got caught up in the world
I got to say you've lost your way
You're a woman, another kind of woman
Another kind of love, hey yeah
I can show you a brand new world
Now you'll never be satisfied
When there's nowhere to run, baby
There's nowhere to hide
Poor little baby
You've got caught up in the world
I've got to say you've lost your way
You're a woman, another kind of woman
Another kind of love
The lyrics to John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers' song "Another Kinda Love" touch upon the struggles and misfortunes of a woman who has lost her way in the world. The singer refers to her as a "poor little baby" who has become too consumed with the material world and has lost sight of who she truly is. He suggests that she has become overly focused on her lover and has neglected her own personal growth and happiness.
The singer acknowledges that the woman is a "another kind of woman", implying that she is unique and different from others. He recognizes that she is perhaps struggling to fit into society's expectations and norms, and is seeking a love that is unconventional or outside of traditional societal structures.
Throughout the song, the singer urges the woman to take control of her life and to find a new perspective, offering to show her a "brand new world". He warns her that if she continues down her current path, she will never be satisfied and will always feel trapped with nowhere to run or hide.
Overall, the lyrics in "Another Kinda Love" explore themes of personal growth, societal norms and expectations, and the quest for unconventional love.
