St. Patrick's Day
John Mayer Lyrics

Break out the winter clothes
And find a love to call your own
You, enter you
Your cheeks a shade of pink
And the rest of you in powder blue
Who knows what will be
But I'll make you this guarantee, see
No way November will see our goodbye
When it comes to December it's obvious why
No one wants to be alone at Christmas time
In the dark, on the phone
You tell me the names of your brothers
And your favorite colors
I'm learning you
And when it snows again
We'll take a walk outside
And search the sky
Like children do
I'll say to you
No way November will see our goodbye
When it comes to December it's obvious why
No one wants to be alone at Christmas time
And come January, we're frozen inside
Making new resolutions a hundred times
February, won't you be my valentine?
And we'll both be safe 'til St. Patrick's Day
We should take a ride tonight around the town
And look around at all the beautiful houses
Something in the way that blue lights on a black night
Can make you feel more
Everybody, it seems to me, just wants to be
Just like you and me
Hey, hey
No one wants to be alone at Christmas time
Come January, we're frozen inside
Making new resolutions a hundred times
February, won't you be my valentine?
And if our always is all that we gave
And we someday take that away
I'll be alright if it was just 'til St. Patrick's Day
The opening verse of John Mayer's "St. Patrick's Day" sets the stage for a cold winter's day. The song speaks to the winter chill and the need for love in the season where everything is grey or dark. The song is written as a love letter, speaking to a person entering the writer's life who seems to bring color and warmth to the winter chill. The chorus looks forward to the upcoming holidays and promises that the relationship will last past them, into the next year. The second verse deepens the understanding between the two people and how they will spend their time. The lyrics discuss taking walks in the snow, learning about each other and enjoying the beauty of winter together.
The chorus continues to discuss the new year, making resolutions and building a life together. February, the month of love, comes and goes, and the singer wonders whether the person they love will be theirs for another year. The bridge returns to the idea of safety, creating a world where love, support, and company are assured, at least until St. Patrick's Day, implying that they will carry one another through difficult times. The final verse speaks to the beauty of the world around them, how everyone wants to be like them, and the desire to get lost in the splendor of their love beyond the holiday season.

Saw him playing the piano when he was sixteen at a Christmas party singing my body is a wonderland and someone told me to remember his name . He's not that kid any more but eric clapton said he will go down as one of the greatest to ever live.

Was a freshman in college when Room for Squares came out. It was love at first listen. This was my favorite of his. Saw him on the Heavier Things tour, was hoping against hope he'd play this....set ended. Nope.
Then, ENCORE!! and those familiar notes began and I swear.... the feeling you get from good music is better than anything. After all these years, this is still my favorite JM track.💖🖤

I bet that was a goosebumps moment! I remember seeing Pearl Jam in 1999 and hoping they played Release. They encored it just like your JM story! A moment to cherish. To this day my favorite two albums are Pearl Jam Ten & JM Room for Squares with close 3rd to Def Leppard Hysteria.
