You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling
John Oates Daryl Hall Daryl Hall & John Oates Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You never close your eyes
Anymore when I kiss your lips
And there's no tenderness
Like before in your finger tips

You're trying hard not to show it
(Baby)
But baby, baby I know it

You've lost that lovin' feeling
Oh, that lovin' feeling
You've lost that lovin' feeling
Now it's gone, gone, gone, oh, oh, oh

There's no welcome look in your eyes
When I reach for you
And girl you're starting to
Criticize little things I do

Ooh, it makes me just feel like crying
(Baby)
'Cause baby, something beautiful's dying

You've lost that lovin' feeling
Oh, that lovin' feeling
You've lost that lovin' feeling
Now it's gone, gone, gone, oh, oh, oh

Baby baby, I get down on my knees for you
(Get down on my knees)
If you would only love me like you used to do, oh, oh
(If you would only love me, love me)

We had a love, a love, a love you don't find everyday
(A love you don't find)
So don't, don't, don't let it slip away
(Away)

I said baby
(Baby)
Baby
(Baby)
(I'm beggin' you please)
I'm begging you please
I need your love
(I need your love)
I need your love
So bring it on back
(Bring it on back)
Now bring it on back
Now bring it on back

You've got to bring back that lovin' feeling
Oh, that lovin' feeling
Bring back that lovin' feeling
'Cause it's gone, gone, gone
And I can't go on oh, oh, oh

Bring back that lovin' feeling
Oh, that lovin' feeling
Bring back that lovin' feeling
'Cause it's gone, gone, gone

Bring back that lovin' feeling
Oh, that lovin' feeling
Bring back that lovin' feeling
'Cause it's gone, gone, gone

Bring back that lovin' feeling
Oh, that lovin' feeling

Bring back that lovin' feeling
'Cause it's gone, gone, gone

In light of recent events: I dedicate this song to Hall and Oates in the hopes they become friends again. Peace to you both. ☮💜🙂

@gmhitsrecord

Amen.🙏🏼

@SnowDog0

It so upsetting to hear this news. They are literally performing a Righteous Brother song. I know there is more to the lawsuit but at the very least John should be able to perform songs solo and Daryl should be able to get financial credit. Hard to choose sides.

@relaxingandsoothing4374

I hear that. Can you imagine they work things out and perform this song and She's Gone live? Of course there are many other hits. Push every disagreement aside, clean slate.

@cindymorin6449

@@SnowDog0 The song part is not in the lawsuit. It's part of the restraining order that came from the judge after Hall filed his claim. John tried selling his share of their joint venture to a 3rd party. So, because of that, both of them had to sit down with an arbitrator to agree on which songs each one can or can't sing on his own. Due to the lawsuit and royalties that come from their songs, until it's settled, there's a freeze on some of the songs and everything else that involved the Hall & Oats logo.
I don't think they'll ever come back together because they haven't been in years. Plus, believe it or not, they were never friends. They were/are business partners and nothing more. Hall even said that they hardly do anything outside of business and only come together when they go on stage.

@cindymorin6449

I seriously doubt they'll ever will be friends because they never were nor do I see them singing together ever again. Hall said that all they ever did was share a stage. They never did much of anything together on a personal level. It was all business with them. In Hall's eyes, according to the lawsuit, John went behind his back and tried to sell off his share of their joint venture business which he cannot do as per the contract they have with each other in regards to this.
It's sad...Hall feels betrayed as a business partner of over 50 years together. It doesn't look good for John who's claiming he didn't do anything wrong. Let's see what happens. There's obviously enough evidence there since a judge approved a restraining order which makes it impossible for either one to sell or really do anything at this point that involves around their music until this is completely settled.
It'll soon come to light and if what Darryl is accusing John of doing is true, then I'll have no respect left for John for doing this after being together for over 59 years!
