Are you lonely girl, are you feelin' blue?
Don't you know that it's you?
It's you that I want
It's you that I need to love
It's you, it's you that I want
It's you that I need to stay with tonight
Now I know that you are a high fashion girl
With a hunger for love
But I'm captured by your smile
Baby, I'm begging you please
Will you stay for a while?
Cause it's you
It's you that I want
It's you that I need to love
It's you, it's you that I want
It's you that I need to stay with tonight
Oh, it's you
Come on, baby, tell me that you need me
It's gettin' late and my heart won't wait
I've been searchin' for someone to love me
It's time to plan our final escape
Ooh, it's you
It's you that I want
It's you that I need to love
It's you, it's you that I want
It's you that I need to stay with tonight
Oh, it's you
Oh, baby, tell me that you love me
It's gettin' late and my heart won't wait
Don't you know that it's you?
Don't you know that it's you that I love?
The lyrics to Johnny Van Zant's "It's You" express the singer's desire for a woman he has feelings for. The first verse consists of the singer directly addressing the woman, asking if she is lonely and stating that he has something to say to her. The chorus emphasizes that it is her specifically that he wants and needs to love and be with tonight.
The second verse shifts the focus to the woman, describing her as a "high fashion girl" with a hunger for love. Despite her possibly superficial exterior, the singer is captured by her smile and begs her to stay for a while. The bridge contains a plea from the singer for the woman to tell him that she needs him, and a sense of urgency regarding their relationship.
Overall, "It's You" is a straightforward love song about two people finding each other and wanting to be together. The lyrics convey a sense of vulnerability and honesty, with the singer directly asking the woman if she feels the same way he does.
