Let It Rock
Jon Bon Jovi/Richie Sambora Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Last night I had a dream that there would be a morning after
Long days, sunshine, and peace
Long nights of love, forgiveness, and laughter
Maybe it was just a dream but it could be reality
Children are like planting seeds, you've got to let their flowers grow
Don't you know

Fa che piova, (Let it rain)
Fa che il cielo mi lavi il dolor (Let heaven wash away my pain)
Fa che piova (Let it rain)
Che sia la pace il nome d'amor (That peace would be the name of love)

Through the rain I saw a child just like my child
Someone's son or daughter
I watched as they played for a while
I wanted to cry, those babies just smiled
Maybe it was just a dream, but it should be reality
A child is just God's sign that peace and love are seeds to make
Tomorrow grow

Fa  che piova, (Let it rain)
Fa  che il cielo mi lavi il dolor (Let heaven wash away my pain)
Fa  che piova (Let it rain)
Che sia la pace il nome d'amor (That peace would be the name of love)

Go on, we've tried war
No one wants peace more
Than the children who ask their dads why

Fa che piova, (Let it rain)
Fa che il cielo mi lavi il dolor (Let heaven wash away my pain)

Fa che piova (Let it rain)
Che sia la pace il nome d'amor (That peace would be the name of love)

Overall Meaning

"Let It Rain" is a song that brings together the vocal powerhouses of rock icon Jon Bon Jovi and operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti. The lyrics of the song convey a message of hope and peace, focusing on the idea of the next generation and the importance of nurturing and protecting them. The opening lines talk about a dream of a better tomorrow and the importance of forgiveness, love, and laughter. The metaphor of planting seeds is used to highlight how children must be nurtured and allowed to grow, just like flowers.

The refrain "fa che piova" - "let it rain" in Italian - represents both the cleansing power of rain and the hope that it can bring. The idea is that the rain can wash away pain and bring peace in its place, with the hope that peace will become the name of love. The song also makes reference to the devastating effects of war and how children are affected by it. There is a hope that comes from the younger generation, who often ask their dads why there cannot be peace instead of war.

Overall, "Let It Rain" is a moving song that emphasizes the need for nurturing and guiding the next generation as they grow. It calls for peace instead of war, and highlights the hopeful message that such peace is possible.

The weekend comes to this town
Seven days too soon
For the ones who have to make up
What we break up of their rules
Well I saw Captain Kidd on Sunset
Tell his boys they're in command
While Chino danced a tango
With a broomstick in his hand
He said: It's alright (alright) if you have a good time
It's alright (alright) if you want to cross that line
To break on through to the other side
Let it rock, let it go
You can't stop a fire burning out of control
Let it rock, let it go
With the night you're on the loose
You got to let it rock
We go down to the Broadway
Where everybody goes
To get on their rockin' horse
And blast that radio
Well I saw Roxie on the table
Her girlfriend down below
They'll give it to the king of swing
Before it's time to go
They said, It's alright (alright) if you have a good time
It's alright (alright) if you want to cross that line
To break on through to the other side
Let it rock, let it go
You can't stop a fire burning out of control
Let it rock, let it go
With the night you're on the loose
You got to let it rock

It's called "maning up" - a profound way to face down any critics - a song from his youth sung with perfect pitch and backed by his powerful band of extraordinary musicians.

@lukebandy516

Perfect pitch ?

@AmyEdwards1986

I was there when they sang that song. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the first notes. I said to myself Oh my God it can't be! I was thrilled! Really thrilled! I really love when they surprise us like that by playing songs no one would think they would perform live again. Let's wish we'll have the chance to hear that stuff again. ♥♥♥

Richie sambora is a legend! much of the band's success is due to him! my idol, my favorite guitarist and the greatest endorser of all time!

@louvelandia7804

He is one of my greatest influences as well. But you can tell that he has lost his chops. He was quite sloppy playing the solo. Nothing like the old days

@OfficialAshArcher

@lou velandia probably drunk again at this stage
