BUBBLE
Jon Hopkins/King Creosote Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I won't let you fall, as low as I been
I promise to crawl until I'm back on my feet
If something went wrong, just think of me
If something went wrong, don't you know I'd be here

So who's been unfair, Who causes you sorrow?
And who's been unkind, Who burst you bubble?
And who drags you down, down, down, down?
Who handed out lights?
And now I'm in trouble

I won't let you fall, As low as I been
I promise to crawl, Until I'm back on my feet

If something went wrong, just think of me
If something went wrong, don't you know I'd be here

Overall Meaning

The song "Bubble" by Jon Hopkins and King Creosote is a touching track that portrays the feeling of love and support in the face of adversity. The lyrics convey a sense of encouragement and a pledge of unwavering support for someone who is going through a difficult time. The lines "I won't let you fall, as low as I have been. I promise to crawl until I'm back on my feet" show that the singer has emerged strong after experiencing difficulties in their life, and they are ready to lend a hand to someone else who might be going through a similar situation.

The chorus asks a series of questions that seem to be directed at the person that the singer is addressing. The query "Who's been unfair, Who causes you sorrow?" suggests that someone has been mistreating the other person. The following line "Who's been unkind, Who burst your bubble?" seems to indicate that the person's hopes and dreams have been dashed as a result of someone else's actions. The repeated line "Who drags you down, down, down, down?" reinforces the message that someone or something is causing pain and difficulty. However, the singer pledges to be there for the other person, no matter what happens, and the final lines "If something went wrong, don't you know I'd be here" shows their commitment to being a source of love and support in the other person's life.

I found this album the day before it was being released in the UK. The Guardian was streaming the whole thing for the day and I listened to it on repeat constantly while studying. After that, I ordered it and had it shipped to me in Canada where I still can't get enough of it 5 months later. Such a brilliant pairing.

The great music coming from these labels just makes me sad that this isn't the norm. At least it exists in some form so there's a bubble of happiness.
