Break The Silence
Jon Peter Lewis Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Understood
We could be on the brink of
Something good
So I'll pretend to question
What I already know
Try and believe you'll miss me
And I feel like I should
Sometimes I think I could
I wanna close the window
I can scream out loud
And say all the wrong things
That I'm saying now
Cause I feel like I should
Because you wish I would
But if I say I love you
And if I lay it out
What if you say you love me
To see how it sounds
But if you still can't hear me
What would it prove?
Just break the silence
I'm holding on to
Cause I feel like I should
Because you wish I would
But if I say I love you
And it I lay it out
What if you say you love me
Just 'cause you like the sound
But if you still can't hear me
What would it prove?
Just break the silence
I'm holding on to
If I could make my silence
Understood
We could be on the brink of
Something good.
In Jon Peter Lewis's song "Break The Silence," the lyrics express the desire to be understood and the fear of speaking honestly. The opening of the song reveals the singer's frustration at their inability to communicate effectively with their loved one. They long to bridge the gap between them, but the fear of being misunderstood makes them hesitant to speak up.
The singer goes on to express their desire to scream and say all the things they've been holding back, and to reveal their true feelings. They wonder if saying "I love you" will make a difference, or if their words will simply fall on deaf ears. The fear of rejection looms large, causing the singer to hold back what they truly feel, but in the end, they long to break the silence and connect with their loved one.
Overall, the lyrics of "Break The Silence" are a poignant reminder of the difficulties we all face in communicating effectively with those we care about. The fear of being misunderstood can keep us silent, but breaking the silence and expressing our emotions honestly is often the first step towards healing and closer connections with others.

Wow. This song and video are exceptional. I've played the video for close to 50 people now, people who weren't Jon's fans, and they really like it. So this video will bring Jon new fans. It's no wonder that Jon is a hit on college campuses and everywhere he performs. Some people may miss the subtle lyrical tensions and the nuance of voice that make this song a cut above, but people who understand music will appreciate such things. Exceptional work, Jon!

Just discovered you Jon. Your musical sound is just superb and your vocals are beautiful, individual and i love the way you dont have to strain yourself to cover your range, it all looks so effortless. I hadnt heard of you since im from Northern Ireland but i hope you try to export your sound to the UK, i think it would be successful. People just need to hear you, and they will eat this up. I did, just heard 'Now that Im Kneeling' and had to have the album, so bring it here Jon. God Bless

It is a shame this song never hit mainstream. Unfortunately music took a turn towards auto-tune pop-rap rather than real music....

This is pretty cool. I remember him being a good vocalist, but as with many on AI you don't get to see much of their own style and creativity. Good he's taken this road. Good luck JPL!
