He co-hosted a Sunday morning radio show on BBC 6 Music with fellow comedian Russell Howard, and continued to present the show himself after Howard left, until 7th March 2010. He was nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2007 if.comedy awards for his first full-length solo show 'Spatula Pad' which he performed at the Pleasance Courtyard, and he was also nominated for the main Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2009.
He won the award for Best Breakthrough Act at the 2008 Chortle Awards.
Early career
Richardson started out in comedy after dropping out of Hispanic Studies at Bristol University. After a year working as a chef, he realised that he wanted to do stand-up and entered and won his heat of the BBC New Talent Comedy Search in May 2003. His first gig was at the Bath Comedy Cavern alongside Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert. In 2004, he was one of six acts to reach the final of the J20 Last Laugh Comedy Search.
Jon completed a 60 date UK and Irish tour supporting Alan Carr in 2006.

I got shingles at 19-21yo and didn’t know for awhile, it just made me more depressed than usual. It was a band on my back and at the time not itchy. Mom found it when she noticed I was more sad, then the doc confirmed it. I’ll be honest, it was itchy but I could resist the urge to scratch mostly. After hearing other’s experiences - especially being immune compromised - I think I got off pretty lucky. Didn’t know how badly it can impact others 😢

@@MrBrownnn696 Honestly, I thought the same thing! But my Dr explained what shingles looked like, and was going to happen, and she was totally right. It cleared up after a few weeks with very little scarring thank goodness

@@MrBrownnn696 I had shingles when I was 11, got hospitalised I don't actually remember it, my mother told me about it a few times, if you've had chickenpox it can be brought on by stress, I got it during SAT season.
