In the culturally diverse city of Miami, Secada was exposed to salsa and merengue. Secada also became interested in R&B and pop music performed by Barry Manilow, Marvin Gaye, Billy Joel, Elton John and Stevie Wonder.

The album went Platinum in the US. One of its singles had a top ten Pop hit If You Go and a Top 30 hit Mental Picture, which was used in the soundtrack for the film "The Specialist". His third album on EMI, Amor, was released in 1995 and earned Secada his second Grammy for "Best Latin Pop Performance".

Coming Out of the Dark
Jon Secada Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Though life is never easy the rest is unknown
Up to now for me it's been hands against stone
Spent each and every moment
Searching for what to believe
Coming out of the dark, I finally see the light now
It's shining on me
You're sharing with me
Starting again is part of the plan
And I'll be so much stronger holding your hand
Step by step I'll make it through I know I can
It may not make it easier but I have felt you
Near all the way
Coming out of the dark, i finally see the light now
And it's shining on me ( I see the light, I see the light)
See the light
Coming out of the dark I know the love that saved me
You're sharing with me
Forever, forever I stand on the rock of your love
Forever and ever I'll stand on the rock
Can't nobody stop me from watching
Forever, forever I stand on the rock of your love
Love is all it takes, no matter what we face
Coming out of the dark, (Coming out of the dark)
I see the light, I feel love shinning on me (Shining, shining)
Shining on me
Coming out of the dark I know the love that saved me
You're sharing, you're sharing with me, sharing with me, sharing with me
Coming out of the dark,
Making it into the light
Your love shining on me, shining on me, shining on me
Coming out of the dark,
I see the light, I see the light
Shining, shining, shining on me
Shining, shining
Coming out of the dark
I see the light now
Yes I see the light
The song "Coming Out of the Dark" by Jon Secada is a powerful representation of a person's journey through tough times and emerging from them stronger. The lyrics suggest that even when life might feel like it's against you, you don't have to be afraid because you're not alone. While it might have been tough in the past and you don't know what the future holds, you can still come out stronger than before.
The song talks about a new beginning, which is part of the plan, and having the strength to make it through whatever might come your way. Even though it might not make it easier, the singer has felt the support of those around them all the way. The chorus repeats the phrase "Coming out of the dark," which suggests emerging from a bad place or period in one's life. The singer sings about finally being able to see the light and two things that have saved them: love and the support of those around them.
