Let It Snow
Jon and Valerie Guerra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Spiraling and trembling
The snowflakes tumble down
Fluttering like angel wings
Like diamonds on the ground
Autumn leaves are gone now
Winter winds blow cold
But I'd dance through December
With your hand to hold
Oh It's you I miss the most
Every time it snows
Carollers and revellers
Their songs are bittersweet
The streets are full but they can't fill
The emptiness in me
Christmas lights are sparkling
But still they lack a glow
Everything reminds me
That you're too far from home
Oh It's you I miss the most
Every time it snows
Please come back regresso mi corazon
Please come back
Te extrano tanto mi amor
Back to me my love te neccessito te quiero
I need you here regresso mi regresso mi
I cry frozen tears
Spiraling and trembling
The snowflakes tumble down

Fluttering like angel wings
They fall without a sound

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Jon and Valerie Guerra's song Let It Snow convey deep emotions of longing and loneliness during the winter season, specifically when it snows. The snowflakes that spiral and tumble down are described as fluttering like angel wings or diamonds on the ground, evoking a sense of beauty and wonder, but also of isolation and detachment. The arrival of winter winds and the departure of autumn leaves, along with the empty streets and lack of glow in the Christmas lights, all serve as reminders of the absence of the person they miss the most. The singer would dance through December with their loved one's hand to hold, but instead they cry frozen tears and feel the emptiness within them grow.

@@LevMass 17 All this came upon us,
though we had not forgotten you;
we had not been false to your covenant.
18 Our hearts had not turned back;
our feet had not strayed from your path.
19 But you crushed us and made us a haunt for jackals;
you covered us over with deep darkness.

This song is amazing and goes straight to my heart. Laying down last night before bed I heard your song for the first time. The fan was on so I couldn’t quite understand the words completely except “let a little light in” which went right to my heart 😢 ❤️‍🩹 and I got up to write down the name of this song.

This morning I hunted it down and played it again and read the lyrics 🥺 They touched me and I was crying the entire time. My whole family battles with pretty extreme depression and the last 17 years I’ve battled chronic pain presenting as fibromyalgia. I am pursuing the Lord harder than ever, and he is letting a little light in, but my soul cries for more healing and more light. Thank you so much for your beautiful heart and beautiful song and a perfect simple video that really captures the feeling.

Sharing our true grief with the Lord…with others…is sharing a prayerful way of being, I think. Bending us in towards Him, who we cling to the hope is our help. If He is, He’ll show himself to be true in time. Thank you Jon. You’re one of a handful of artists who have carried me by your songs when I had no song. I praise God for you.

The vocals are so powerful and heartfelt

@BrennanPenner

Thanks for blessings the Church with honest emotions reoriented to the grace of our Lord, just like the psalmist. We need this more than ever if we are to keep our eyes fixed on Heaven.

@nathanaelorr7040

So refreshing to hear music with faith elements that incorporates more than just one emotion - you do this so well Jon; citizens, Life Logic etc. etc. I have wondered if the depth and breadth of emotion through art-languages in the Bible had been lost to us in the church.. you restore my hope! And inspire me to write better too! 👏🏻

@iamjonguerra

Thanks for the encouragement! Recovering the "breadth and depth of emotion through art-languages in the Bible" is a sub-thesis of my writing. Well said, and astutely recognized!!

@@iamjonguerra - it comes through loud and clear! Reminds me of Hebrew meditation; the mumbling, the chewing, the non-prescriptive, the challenge! If you’ve written any articles or blogs or essays on this matter I’d love to read them! ❤
