You Don't Even Know
Jonas Brothers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's getting hard to say hello
You just don't know it
I'm on the edge of crossing the line
I don't want to blow it,
Or show it Before you know
You're mine
[Chorus]
Oh, you won't see me break
Won't make that mistake
Oh no I'll just walk away
There too much at stake right now
I go on and on singing this song about you
And that's what's wrong with this song
Can you feel it?
In the way I look at you Girl,
Can you hear it?
I'm crying out inside
I don't want to see you Be near you
You're a million miles too close
[Chorus]
[Bridge]
You don't know the way
I feel So I'll stay alone
[Chorus]
The lyrics of "You Just Don't Know It" by the Jonas Brothers describe the struggle of unrequited love, where one person wants to express their feelings to the other, but is afraid of rejection. The song talks about the difficulty of even saying hello, and being on the edge of crossing the line. The singer wants to show his feelings, but he doesn't want to blow it or show it before he knows that the other person feels the same way. He sings that he'll just walk away because there's too much at stake right now, and goes on and on singing the song about her, which he acknowledges is wrong.
The chorus of the song repeats the idea that the singer won't make the mistake of letting his emotions get the best of him, and he'll walk away to protect himself. He asks the girl if she can feel it in the way he looks at her or hear it in his cries. He doesn't want to see her or be near her because it's too close for comfort. The bridge of the song emphasizes that the girl doesn't know the way the singer feels, and so he'll stay alone.
Overall, the song tells the story of unspoken feelings and the fear of rejection. It's a relatable theme that many people can relate to, particularly for those who have experienced unrequited love.

@emilyfan505 how on earth would there be something wrong with her relating to the song? Making someone elses diagnosis about you and then bringing up yet another horrific story related to said diagnosis is plain ignorant
