The Morning of the Rain
Jonathan Jackson Lyrics

You tore apart my heart
I loved you from the start
But you couldn't take it
You couldn't take it
I gave you all my dreams
You couldn't fake it
You couldn't fake it
No
This is the morning of the rain
This is the healing from my pain
This is the wonderful mistake
This is the morning of the rain
I caught a thousand lies
You acted so surprised
But you couldn't fake it
You couldn't fake it
My soul released a cry
And you could hear the sound
From London to Paris
Dublin to Nashville
Oh
This is the morning of the rain
This is the healing from my pain
This is the wonderful mistake
This is the morning of the rain
Oh, can you hear me when I'm calling, calling
Oh, can you hear me when I'm down, down, down
Oh, can you hear me when I'm falling, falling
Oh, will I ever hit the ground, ground, ground
Oh
This is the morning of the rain
This is the healing from my pain
This is the wonderful mistake
This is the morning of the rain
This is the morning of the rain
This is the morning of the rain
The lyrics to Jonathan Jackson's song "The Morning of the Rain" speak of heartbreak, betrayal, and ultimately healing. The song begins with the singer addressing the person who broke their heart, expressing their love from the start and giving everything they had to the relationship. However, the other person couldn't handle it, and ended up tearing apart the singer's heart and dreams. The chorus brings in the motif of rain as a symbol of healing and renewal, as the singer declares that this is the "morning of the rain" and the beginning of their journey towards moving on from the pain they experienced.
In the second verse, the singer talks about catching lies from their partner and being hurt even more by their surprise at getting caught. The pain becomes physical as the singer's soul lets out a cry that can be heard across the world, from London to Paris to Dublin to Nashville. The bridge of the song is a cry for help, as the singer asks if anyone can hear them in their time of need and whether they will ever hit rock bottom.
Overall, "The Morning of the Rain" is a powerful song about the pain of heartbreak, the importance of healing, and the need for support during difficult times. The rain serves as a metaphor for the emotional release and cleansing that occurs when we face our pain and work through it.
