after all this time
Jonathan Peters Feat Sylver Logan Sharp Lyrics

I don't want to see no more
Because you're not in my theater
There's no open door
And you won't let me in and I cannot see in
Because if only you were happy
What was I thinking
I had so much of you I couldn't dream last night
I feel the touch of you
Even though you're not by my side
Can't get enough of you
Because you made the darkness light
After all this time
You still possess my mind
I had so much (stay with me)
I had so much (I want you baby)
I had so much (stay with me)
I had so much (I need you baby)
I had so much (stay with me)
I had you so much (I want you baby)
[Chorus]
After all this time
You still feel so right
After all this time
I still want you in my life
In my life, feels so right
In my life, in my life, in my life, in my life
Still want you in my life
(In my life, in my life, in my life, in my life)
I had so much, couldn't dream last night
want to feel your touch
Even though you're not by my side
I had so much, whoa
Couldn't dream last night
Feel your touch
Even though you're not by my side
Oh, yeah
These lyrics speak to the pain and longing of a past love that still holds a strong grip on the singer's mind and heart. The opening lines set the scene of the singer trying to escape from the pain of their situation by closing their eyes, perhaps in an effort to block out the memories of their lost love. The mention of a theater suggests that the relationship may have been like a performance or show, with the singer feeling shut out from the other person's life. The line "Because if only you were happy, what was I thinking" reveals a sense of regret, as if the singer is blaming themselves for the relationship's failure and wondering if things could have been different if they had just recognized their partner's unhappiness sooner.
The chorus brings together the central themes of the song, with the singer expressing their overwhelming desire for their former lover, even though they are no longer together. The repetition of "I had so much" reinforces the idea that the relationship was once deeply fulfilling and satisfying for the singer, but they are now left longing for something they can no longer have. The mention of dreaming and feeling their partner's touch hints at the fact that these feelings are not just surface-level, but are rooted deeply in the singer's subconscious and emotions. Despite the distance and pain between them, the singer still feels a strong connection to their former partner, and cannot shake the hold that they have over their mind.
Overall, these lyrics capture the bittersweet nature of a past love that still holds a powerful grip on the heart. The sense of longing and regret is palpable throughout, as the singer tries to come to terms with the fact that their former relationship is over, but cannot help but feel haunted by the memories of what once was.
