Round & Round
Jonell & Method Man Lyrics

(Soundbombing)
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, oh

I was gutter when ya met me, gutter when ya left me
Gutter when ya came back, face it nothin' can change that
Not romance nor marriage counselling
You drop the ball, now I'm bouncin'
Find me a room, burn up an ounce in
Waitin' for my baby to call, forgive it all
On some break-up-to-make-up shit, givin' me draws
I adore mi amor, but every time she choose to go to war
I'm lookin' at the front door

You could keep the negative's mind, please, I get the picture
But the emotional sounds was different when I first split you
Claim I brought pain to the thing like King Kong
Like villains in the Western flicks, that I was well hung (c'mon)
Who put you up on Talib Kweli and the Village of Slum?
Read the book of Psalms to get the miles, sing some (come on, come on now)
And you actin' like you don't know what I came here for
It's wrong to put our spirits you drove at the front door
Affectionate smiles, so you could front more (c'mon)
I should call you somethin' that walks on all fours (uh huh)
'Cause you got a fella heated for sure, love him or delete it, it's raw
Feelin' cheated when I'm out on tour
They catch a glimpse from beyond this globe, on the same note
'Cause in torrential downpours, I keep a rain coat
And a bottle of Chambord, to let the brain flow
Pray for sun after the rain and greet the rainbow

I try and I try to stop the
Forces that go 'round in my head and I
Thought you were the one to understand me
You turned my dark skies to light
But once again you touched my hopes to find
My soul's insane, my tears start gleaming in the rain
Falling again, falling again

I really don't know what you came here for
Round and around we go
I'm sending your bags outside the door
Round and around we go
I really don't know what you came here for
Round and around we go
I'm sending your bags outside the door
Round and around we go

If you don't understand where I'm comin' from
Then my heart is tellin' me you're not the one
All the games you played and I realized
You're not the one for me no more so baby bye-bye
Pack yo' bags and get to steppin'
You got to let it go, you need to stop trippin'
I hope you don't think I'ma let you back in
'Cause you's a fool

I really don't know what you came here for
Round and around we go
I'm sending your bags outside the door
Round and around we go
I really don't know what you came here for
Round and around we go
I'm sending your bags outside the door

G. Rap Giacanna, I'm not the one who's prone to be dissed
So let me make this clear for you, just like stones on my wrist
Just 'cause the door closed, don't mean I'm on the phone with a chick
I'm just a cat about his B.I. And that's only get rich
Straight up politickin', so where you lay your dome and be sick
Stack cake, keep food on the plate and chrome on the six
Then we can make a little fam, just us, alone in the sticks
And I can get rid of these bricks and be gone from the strip, you know? (Day)

Today I made up my mind to get away
Every day, I sit and pray, every day, every day

I really don't know what you came here for
Round and around we go
I'm sending your bags outside the door
Round and around we go
I really don't know what you came here for
Round and around we go
I'm sending your bags outside the door
Round and around we go

I really don't know what you came here for (today I'm gonna take a little time)
Round and around we go (to get away)
I'm sending your bags outside the door (every day, I sit and pray)
Round and around we go (every day)

Every day
Round and around we go

To get away
Round and around we go

Overall Meaning

"Round and Round" by Jonell and Method Man is a song about a couple who are stuck in a cycle of making up and breaking up. The song starts with Method Man rapping about how he was "gutter" when he met his partner, and he remains that way despite her coming back to him. He then discusses how he waits for his partner to call him every time they break up, and he is willing to forgive everything that has happened between them. However, this cycle is a painful one, and he's unsure of what his partner truly wants from him.

Jonell's part of the song is about how she's tired of being in this cycle with Method Man. She realizes that he's not the one for her and decides to send his bags outside the door. She's had enough and doesn't plan to let him back in. Though she still loves him, she knows that she needs to move on, and the song ends with her trying to distance herself from this relationship.

The different parts of the song showcase how the relationship is one of conflict and how both parties are struggling with their feelings towards each other. Despite the love that exists between them, the issues between them are too significant to ignore, leading them to separate.

Just read a butt load of comments and thought I'd add... 52 yo female from Philly and this is one of my favorite songs to bump to in my Civic on my way home from anywhere! Windows done, blue tooth connected to my playlist while the bass thumps... Nothing can compare to the music we once knew. The younger people at work say oh yeah my mom's listen to them oldies... Lol
