Natural
Jones Howard Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Everything Around Is Natural Don't Fight It
Don't Disagree with This and That, No
Astrology, Evolution, this-and-that-ity
This religion and that, no

[Chorus]
And if they were not meant to be
Well don't you think they wouldn't be
And if they were not meant to be
Well don't you think they wouldn't be, oh

Your beliefs, philosophy, don't give us peace
Destruction of our enemy does it makes us right
If you took them apart and destroyed them all now one by one
This still won't make it work no

[Chorus]

Everything we like and don't like is whole and natural
I know is doesn't feel like it and the world seems wrong
But if we don't like it now the who can we blame
Blame god, be still, find harmony

[Chorus]

Overall Meaning

The song "Natural" by Jones Howard is a thought-provoking anthem about accepting what is natural and not fighting against it. The opening verse sets the tone, as he sings "Everything Around Is Natural Don't Fight It." Howard seems to be commenting on the tendency of humans to resist what is natural, whether it be astrology, evolution, or religion. He encourages listeners not to disagree with these things, as they are all part of the natural world that surrounds us.

The chorus repeats the phrase "if they were not meant to be, well don't you think they wouldn't be." This suggests that everything has a purpose or reason for existing, and we should trust that these things are natural and meant to be in our lives. Howard seems to be advocating for a more accepting and open-minded approach to life, and he believes that we can find peace if we embrace the natural world.

The second verse takes a more political tone, as Howard references "destruction of our enemy" and the idea of making things right through force. He suggests that even if we were to take apart our enemies one by one, it wouldn't make things work. Instead, he encourages us to embrace what is natural and find harmony.

Overall, "Natural" is a powerful song that encourages listeners to think about their place in the world and how they can find peace by accepting what is natural. Howard's message is both thought-provoking and timely, as we continue to grapple with issues of climate change, political polarization, and more.

Great song. FANTASTIC album.

SniffyPoo

I love this song, it's so bright and optimistic

Mr Smith

This song is like the best Jam song Paul Weller might have written, had the Jam not split up and had instead gone on to use synths and drum machines instead of guitars...I wonder if the Jam were an influence on Howard here? Regardless of that, this song (especially the main synth melody) is just so catchy, exciting, uplifting, thoughtful and brilliant
