Don't Tell Me Not to Love You
Joni James Lyrics
Don't tell me not to love you
Not to love you
I love you
Tell me I can't have you
Tear my dreams apart
Tell me if you have to
Make my heartaches start
[Chorus:]
Not to love you
For I'll always love you
With all of my heart
[Verse:]
Tell me you can't be mine
Now or any day
Tell me that it's foolish
To go on this way
But don't tell me
Not to love you
For I'll always love you
Yes I'll always love you
No matter what you say
[Repeat verse 1]
But don't...
Don't tell me not to love you
For I'll always love you
Yes I'll always love you
No matter what you say

Her voice is like a glass staircase to the heaven that uplifts and carries your soul. The higher she sings, the better she sounds.

Another song she recorded at this session, "Somewhere Someone Is Lonely" is just as terrific. Neither of these have made it to C.D. yet but Joni herself is aware of that and hopes to remedy it. When she sang "Don't Tell Me Not to Love You" at Blinstrub's, in the words of Variety's reviewer, "the roof came off the house." June Valli also recorded "Don't Tell Me Not to Love You."
