Joni James Lyrics

You'll cry and cry and try to sleep
But sleep won't come the whole night through
Your cheating heart will tell on you
When tears come down like falling rain
You'll toss around and call my name
You'll walk the floor the way I do
When tears come down like falling rain
You'll toss around and call my name
You'll walk the floor the way I do
Your cheating heart will tell on you
In Joni James's song titled "Your Cheatin Heart," the singer explains the repercussions of cheating on a partner. The lyrics describe how the person who cheats will eventually feel the full effects of their actions, even if it takes some time. The first verse states that the person's guilt will cause them to cry and experience sleepless nights. This is followed by the chorus, which repeats the idea that the cheating heart will eventually tell on the person.
The second verse describes how the person's overwhelming emotions will cause them to walk the floor and call out to their partner. The repetition of the first chorus drives home the idea that the person will inevitably be exposed for their wrongdoing. The song ends with the last line of the chorus, driving home the message that the person will not be able to keep their infidelity hidden forever.
Overall, the song is a warning against cheating and a reminder that actions have consequences. The lyrics are simple yet effective in conveying a powerful message about the importance of honesty and loyalty in relationships.

My dad's favorite song! And one of mine. The background on this song was unreal and it complemented her voice perfectly. Had a great beat and low end that is not heard on today's eqpt. Please bring back the large speaker cabinets.

Regarding the low end of the sound, that resulted from the ribbon microphone being used at Universal Recording Studios in Chicago, where Joni recorded her first two years. When she moved to New York City, there they used a Telefunken 47 mike and that brought out the highs both in her voice and in the orchestra. She did come back to Chicago in 1957 and did more sessions at Universal, including two songs using the old mike, "Nothing Will Ever Change" and "Does It Show."
