You said to me
Were they true, just tell me now
Just tell me now
For once, I don't know why I cry
I don't know why I cry
I tried to tell you
Well it's all gone now, you lied to me
You lied to me
For once, I don't know why you lie
I don't know why I cry
I don't know why you lie
Oh, talk to me, let me see
Just why you're paranoid
Or what you think about
Or are you allowed
Something went (?)
I know you know we make mistakes
Mistakes!
Maybe one day we'll learn to breathe
To breathe!
The lyrics to Jonny Was's song Sunny Day are a tale of dishonesty and heartbreak. The singer is questioning their lover's sincerity and whether or not the things they said were true. They are tired of the lies and deceit that have destroyed their relationship. The chorus repeats the lines "For once, I don't know why I cry / I don't know why you lie," emphasizing the singer's confusion and frustration with the situation.
In the second verse, the singer pleads with their lover to open up and communicate with them. They want to understand why their partner is so paranoid and what they are thinking about. However, the lines become muddled towards the end. The lyrics "Or are you allowed / Something went (?)" are unclear and could be interpreted in different ways.
Overall, the lyrics to Sunny Day paint a picture of a troubled relationship filled with lies and miscommunication. The singer is trying to make sense of their emotions and understand where things went wrong.
