Where Do I Go From Here
Jools Holland Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Szomorú vasárnap száz fehér virággal vártalak kedvesem, templomi imával. Álmokat kergető vasárnap délelőtt, bánatom hintaja nélküled visszajött; azóta szomorú mindig a vasárnap,
Könny csak az italom, kenyerem a bánat...

Szomorú vasárnap

Utolsó vasárnap, kedvesem gyere el,
Pap is lesz, koporsó, ravatal, gyászlepel. Akkor is virág vár, virág és - koporsó, virágos fák alatt utam az utolsó;
Nyitva lesz szemem, hogy még egyszer lássalak,
Ne félj a szememtől, holtan is áldalak...

Utolsó vasárnap

Overall Meaning

These lyrics are a translation of a Hungarian song called "Gloomy Sunday." The lyrics speak of a Sunday where the singer waited for their lover with 100 white flowers and a church prayer. However, their lover did not come back and ever since that day, Sundays have been melancholic for the singer. They drown their sorrows in tears and their only meal is sadness.

The second part of the song is a plea to the singer's lover to come back for one last Sunday. They know that they will die soon and there will be a funeral with a coffin and mourners. Flowers will still be waiting for the lover, but this time, there will also be a coffin. The singer's eyes will be open so they can see the lover one last time even in death. They want the lover to know that they will always bless them, whether dead or alive.

The lyrics of this song gained notoriety when it was nicknamed the "Hungarian Suicide Song" due to its association with an urban legend that many people committed suicide while listening to it. However, there is no evidence that this is true.

It's spinning me around again
Like a little girl in a pink dress, oh
Darkness was my only friend
Up until the moment we met, oh
And I held you so close
And you said
"Where do you go when you go?
What do you take of your weary soul?
Oh, where do you go when you go?
Oh I just wanna know"
It's spinning me around again
Like a young girl in a prom dress, oh
With all this worry in my head
I'll stay up as late as I can, oh
'Til you come home
Come home
And tell me
"Where do you go when you go?
What do you take of your weary soul?
Oh, where do you go when you go?
I just wanna know, yeah"
It's spinning me around again
In and out of touch with the second hand
Oh, time stops
And I'll go
But tell me
Where do I go when I go?
What do I take of your weary soul?
Oh, where do I go when I go?
I just wanna know, ooh
I just wanna know
I just wanna
I just wanna
I just wanna know
Ooh I just wanna
I just wanna
I just wanna
The fire is burning
Much brighter than before
For you

I personally love the nervousness. It's so relatable and you already know she's a beast... So it shows a humility... Idk how to describe it. But i like it! She real 😘

Word!

TAM ARA

It's not nervousness..... she was very sensitive singing this song bc she dedicated this song to her mother who passed away from suicide. She's a very talented singer!! Love her style!!
