Ausência
Jorge Oñate & Nicolas "Colacho" Mendoza Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

podrá gritar calma a mi corazón
regresa pa' ver lo que sientes
oyendo mi vieja canción.

Regresa porque los ausentes,

son sombras del alma
o sombras de amor (bis)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song Ausencia by Jorge Oñate and Nicolas "Colacho" Mendoza express the feelings of loneliness and nostalgia caused by someone's absence. The first verse talks about how the absence of the person not only makes the singer feel alone but also pushes away their memories of them. The second verse describes how the absence has dried the singer's eyes but at the same time inspires the verses that they write about the person they miss.

The chorus talks about how the moon last night illuminated the drops of water on a flower while the singer was singing and how the notes they sang were tears born out of a song. It then goes on to say that those who are absent are shadows of the soul or shadows of love and only death can bring peace to the singer's heart. The last verse is a plea for the absent person to return and listen to the singer's old song.

Overall, the song Ausencia is a beautiful and emotional portrayal of the pain and yearning one feels in the absence of someone they love.
