Dime Quién
Jorge Villamizar Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Tengo que aprender a vivir con esto
Debo buscarme algún buen pretexto para aceptar
Que la vida sigue después de ti

Sigue después de haber sido un inconciente
De haber perdido lo más urgente
Por andar jugando por ahí
Yo no estaba listo pa' tanta suerte

Si no soy yo, dime ¿quien?
Dime, ¿quien?
Dime, ¿quien?
Dime, ¿quien?

No tuve fuerzas pa' retenerte y hoy
No sé cómo perdonarme

Si no soy yo, dime ¿quien?
Dime, ¿quien?
Dime, ¿quien?
Dime, ¿quien?
Dime, ¿quien?

Si no es ahora, ¿cuando?
Si no es contigo, ¿con quien?
Si no es aquí, ¿donde?
Si no es amor, dime ¿qué es?

Si no es ahora, ¿cuando?
Si no es contigo, ¿con quien?
Si no es aquí, ¿donde?
Si no soy yo, dime ¿quien?
Dime, ¿quien?

Dime, ¿quien?
Dime, ¿quien?

Overall Meaning

In “Dime Quien” by Jorge Villamizar, the singer is reflecting on a past relationship and grappling with the aftermath of its end. He admits that he needs to learn to live with the pain and find a good excuse to accept that life goes on after his lover's departure. He wishes he had been more prepared for their separation, but instead he lost the most important thing – his lover - by being reckless and not taking their relationship seriously. Now he has to face his own voice repeating the memories of the past relationship over and over in his head.

The chorus features a series of rhetorical questions that express the singer's confusion and frustration. He asks "If not now, when? If not with you, who? If not here, where? If not love, then what?”. The repetition of these questions show that the singer is searching for answers, and trying to come to terms with the end of the relationship. He acknowledges that he's made mistakes, but doesn't know how to forgive himself or move on. The song ends with the final plea to “tell me who” can fill the void and answer these questions.
