Just The Beginning
Jorn Lande Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don't know where to start
I wanna follow my heart
But the voices in my head
Keep saying don't do it

A burning passion in my soul
A fear that leaves me cold
I see the open door but
I'm afraid to go through it

I don't know what's on the other side
But I do know I have to decide

Is this the dream I had in the beginning?
Do I dare to lose with
Such a faint hope of winning
Can I run the race without losing face
Can I take the strain, can I stand the pain
Can I play the game and stay the same
This is just the beginning

So give me five guys who can rock
Who don't know how to stop
Send them ten times round the block
Just to add a little mystery
Give me radio with balls
Someone to help us fill the halls
And we can grab ourselves
A piece of rock and roll history

Fate and destiny have been guided
We're going in, it's all been decided
This is the dream I had from the beginning
I'll bet it all and only think of winning
I can run this race
I'm not afraid of losing face
I can take the strain
I'll live through the pain
I'm gonna play the game
Even if I'm not the same

Fate and destiny have been guided
We're going in, it's all been decided
This is the dream I had from the beginning
I'll bet it all and only think of winning
I can run this race
I'm not afraid of losing face
I can take the strain
I'll live through the pain
I'm gonna play the game
Even if I'm not the same

This is just the beginning...

Overall Meaning

The song Just The Beginning by Jorn Lande is a powerful anthem about following one’s heart, facing fears and taking risks to achieve your dreams. The lyrics speak to the internal conflict of an individual who is torn between their passions and the doubts lurking in their mind. The first stanza highlights the struggle between the voice of the heart and the voices in the mind that advise against taking risks. The singer is plagued by uncertainty and fear, but the burning passion in his soul forces him to consider what lies behind the open door even if it is unfamiliar territory.

The second stanza urges the singer to face the challenge, make a decision and take action, instead of “wallowing in doubt." The chorus poses the question, is this the dream I had in the beginning and am I willing to chase it despite the possibility of losing or failure. The singer believes that he can take the strain, live through the pain and stand alone for the greater good. Toward the end of the song, the singer gains confidence and the support of a team. He is ready to bet everything, risk it all, and strive for success with no fear of losing face.

This song is a vivid metaphor for the struggles of life and the courage it takes to follow one’s dreams. It reminds listeners that uncertainty and fear are common, but the determination to push through those obstacles is what sets them apart. The artist's use of strong imagery and emotive lyrics creates a sense of relatability, allowing individuals to project their own struggles onto the song.

I felt that during his time in Sabbath as big of a fan of Ozzy that I am,well how can you say you're a fan of Metal if you don't like Ozzy? But,I always felt that Ronnie James Dio was a more accomplished vocalist, frontman and songwriter than Ozzy. Send hate my way all you want but it is my opinion of which I'm entitled to.

@wahbl997

Yah. The only ones remaining Legends are, I Bet, Robert Halford and Dave Mustaine.
